She has a nanny?

Tell you what, when the movie is about a black woman who lives in the Bronx that has to commute over a hour each way for a barely above minimum wage job where she is on her feet all day, then get home at a decent time and still has the energy to spend time with her kids and even cook them dinner, then I will care how she does it.

Sick of these white peoples' problems movies.

OMG THANK YOU! My mother always worked two (or more) jobs to raise me on her own and was still there for me. Did I give a crap if her contribution to the food sale was a box of fruit roll ups and not something homemade?! HELL NO! It was like they were making SJP into a saint or something.

From what I understand this was adapted from a book, so I don't know how much came from the book and how much was just Hollywood stuff, but it seemed to me that they wanted to make it seem like she has sooooo much to do and nobody else can do it and its all up to her. She has a husband there. Why can't he help pull his weight. Like when he got all upset because she didn't take care of carpet on stairs. What the heck - why couldn't HE take care of it? Why did we have to wait for the last 5 minutes of the movie for him to pull his own weight? She has the nanny who is taking care of basically just the 2 year old boy (because the girl is in school). Why can't she at least help clean up the kids toys, etc? Or better yet, put him in a day care program and hire a maid or something.

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't feel sorry for her.

That was pretty much the movie you described :)

What a ridiculous post. Why bring race into it?

You do realize all white people don't have high paying jobs & nannies don't you? Nor are their biggest problems that their store-bought pie will look home-made at a bake sale.

No matter what race there are people who have to work full-time to makes ends meat and raise their children without any outside help.

I think this movie spoke to a certain demographic - the middle/upper middle class professional working mom/couple. So naturally it relates to the kind of problems they would have. I hated this movie FYI but I know many many women who can relate to exactly the kinds of issues Kate and her husband had in this movie.

I was also supremely pissed at how useless they made the husband in this movie. I don't know any husband with a working/breadwinner wife who does so little. That was ridiculous.
