I didn’t like the movie and I hated the lead character

Right off the BATH, this movie has two of the most sickening and disgusting scenes I have ever seen in my entire life, PERIOD. I saw a lot of stuff and I rarely gag but this one got to me. What’s up with movies like this or Call me by your name and making their gay characters do the most nastiest sickening stuff? I mean, FuCk that moThErFuckiNg shit! It literally made me lose my entire appetite!! It has nice settings and well shot scenes but it’s so pretentious and filled with obnoxious superficial characters that say a bunch of stupid stuff like “ Look at his beautiful eyes!”. Bitch!! The boy doesn’t even have any eyes!!! Just two big puffy bags! Yeah, I just couldn’t really enjoy this very beautifully shot film as it did everything possible for me to hate it. And hate it I did. Grant was cool though. Pike offered a good performance too. BTW, I’m not the only one who hated it, many others too. Like Scott, who said: « Baffled by the reviews here! This is a self-indulgent, unoriginal, poke in the eye, middle finger to the viewers piece of shallow trash. There are no interesting characters, no interesting events, no moments of insight, nothing whatsoever to make it worth one's time to watch this drivel. It is derivative of several other more original and thoughtful films & stories. There is almost no story here, actually. It is just little scenes of shallowness, one after the other. There are no surprises. The reveal at the end is completely devoid of surprise. » My rating: 3/10

Who the hell is Scott?

reply

My guy on IMDb.

reply

Yes. But few fans of this movie here keep trying to convince me here that this is great movie.
It's not.

reply

His behavior made no sense.

Movie clearly showed us he was sociopath, even psychopath. Who infiltrated himself into that rich family and try to take away their wealth.

Then out of nowhere they show him drinking Felix's sperm in bath. Then him killing Felix in cold blood and going to sleep. Then suddenly being so heartbroken that he was having sex with dirt on his grave. Then going and killing his sister. Then packing his things and.... going away peacefully.

Then meeting Mother what looked like some 10 years later. What was he doing all those time? Sitting and waiting for the right time to bump into her in hope she will fall in love with him and give him all her money? She could be married to someone else by this time.

Not to mention cousin vanishing from story. While he was the closest family to Mother, specially after her own kids died.

We could pick this movie apart bit by bit. Not much of it made sense.

The bike scene. Perfect timing?

The beer payment at the bar. Luck?

The rocks with the names picked up in the water. Skills?

It’s just too much BS for me.

reply

The movie did not show him killing Felix, though it is certainly implied. An autopsy should have been performed, of course, but this is a horror movie not a crime whodunit.

reply

The snobby girls were right about him: he set off their creep radar.

reply

Sociopathic obsession would certainly be a viable explanation for the water-drinking and dirt-fucking. It was not enjoyable to watch, but it showed very clearly the obsessive behaviuor Oliver had to the point he couldnt control himself.

>What was he doing all those time?

Waiting for the father to die as the father was the only one who saw through him. He bumped into her right after he read in the newspaper that he died.

I hated the movie and did not like the lead character. 3/10 sounds about right.

My brother!!!!! 🍻

reply

You weren't supposed to like the lead character. Did that not occur to you?

reply

I can dig an enjoyable “unlikable” character. When they are the main character you normally end up appreciating watching them to some extent. Let’s take Housebound for example. You become attached even. But in this case, he wasn’t a cool and fun person to “dislike”. Just despicable, disgusting and unbelievable.

reply

"Despicable, disgusting & unbelievable" - you could say the same thing about Hannibal Lecter or Iago. Did you not like Silence of the Lambs or Othello either?

reply

I don’t feel the same toward them at all. I actually need to rewatch silence of the lambs has it been way too many years, but my feeling is, I would describe him more as “fascinating, psycho genius with charisma.”

Also, Hopkins had credibility as the character. Unlike that little bitch who plays the lead role in Saltburn.

reply

Wow - vicious. And untrue.

reply

He's a weak little bitch that only plays bitch ass roles and if I cross him in the street I'll....

Cross to the other side or something....

reply

“A weak little bitch”? He’s a respected amateur boxer who could beat your punk ass into the ground. So you’d be wise to cross to the other side of the street.

Since you claim he’s only done “bitch ass roles”: what roles have you seen him do?

reply

You don’t even know my punk ass so chill. You just don’t know.

To answer your gay ass question:
The killing is sacred deer mainly.

Dunkirk too.

reply

Well it didn't do good financially so it looks like you won't have to worry about a sequel coming along.
