People accused this of straight-washing Freddie.
What movie did they watch? That was a focus for his character a chunk of the time and he clearly sleeps with other men. They just made it didn't make him straight-up homosexual? (pun intended)

shareNot gay enough. They made it seem like he was sexually attracted to men but romantically attracted to women
No doubt Brian May and the other jackass Queen members who participated in producing this movie thought they were protecting Mercury's legacy by not depicting the seedy details of Mercury's personal life. But it's what people want to see
If you contracted AIDS in the 80s then you probably had a pretty wild personal life. People want to see an out of control rock star do crazy wild shit. Watch the movie "Gia" if you want an idea of what this movie could have been if it had any balls
...He was attracted to women though. He was BIsexual. I'm sure he slept with more men than the movie depicted. Still bi though.
shareI'm sure there was a bit of straightwashing, the movie shows him as having to have his girlfriend tell him he's gay, as he hadn't really been admitting it to himself. I doubt that bit was factual.
Still, "Freddie, you're gay" is a great line, and I keep trying to find a place to use it in real life.
Actually, the movie referred to his extreme promiscuity quite clearly, after Paul was fired and went blabbing to the press. We saw him interviewed about Freddie.

and based on the evidence we have this was true. Freddy was bisexual and attracted to both.
