Inordinate bad language ruined what could have been a good movie

Excessive bad language ruined what I thought could have been a really funny movie. All the actors were funny and interacted well together but the language was so bad and so much that it made it really hard to watch. I watched this on HBO. I would have been real upset if I had paid good money to see this in a theater. I would have wanted a refund! I guess it was geared towards the newer audience that is more acceptable of that sort of language. It was just too much for me. I didn’t expect such a foul language movie with Jennifer Aniston in the cast.

Without the cursing the movie wouldn't work. You need the contrast between them being nice to the outside world and being their (not-so-nice) selves.

reply

They still could have had that without saying the f word almost relentlessly.

reply

I agree.

Indeed. I suppose that I am among that demographic.

BuffDonkey: Mesmerize wasn't whining, he was discussing and criticizing. That is what this board is about.

Killswitch and BuffDonkey: Name calling (ad hominem attacks) are usually the mark of someone who has nothing to support his or her argument, so a personal attack substitutes.

And since when is age-ism ("geezers") any more acceptable than racism, sexism or other forms of bigotry. Why don't you contribute in a more meaningful way?

There definitely seems to be two schools about it. But I'm not a new viewer and I didn't get bothered at all. I think it's just to put a little kick to the lines. I liked it :]

In a movie about drug smuggling, strippers, gay cops extorting sex, homeless and abandon teenagers and murdering drug lords you didn’t like it because of… bad language.

That is truly hilarious!

Thank you.

I couldn't even remember any particular lines of profanity off the top of my head after I read the OP. I know film had a good deal of it, but I never saw it as anymore than usual. And I've seen it twice.

I'm not a control freak, I just like things my way

Not to mention the gratuitous close ups of the boys genitals after the spider bite and some incest related humor. While some films can be ruined by ridiculous levels of profanity, I agree that his film was never going to be family viewing anyway and simply taking away the four letter words from it would not make it so.

You're complaining about language in a comedy about a drug dealer (turned drug mule), stripper, and homeless girl.

No telling about some people....

I honestly didn't notice much swearing at all. I guess I'm desensitised… and Australian.

What I find fault with is that we are suppose to care for David as the Hero of this piece of crap of a movie. David is a drug dealer and we are making him the Hero. WTF? Plus, having a teenager pressured to give a blow job to a cop -- I mean that is supposed to be funny. What surprises me even more is that I lost respect for Jennifer Aniston for her choice of movies. I thought that if Jennifer was in it it must be good. Boy was I wrong -- can't take the chance on any more movies with hr in it. She really jumped the shark with her career. No wonder Brad dumped her. I'm glad that I didn't pay to see this load of crap but it actually made money & there are making "We're The Millers 2". This is so wrong on so many levels. What is sad is that the funniest part of the movie was the Gag Reel in which they play the Friend's Theme Song as a gag towards Jennifer.
