This sucked
It didn't have the same tone or atmosphere as the original, it felt like one big inside joke or "memberberries the movie".

Seeing Ralfie old I found depressing. It's not his fault - but it's like seeing your grandma in the casket; it's the last thing you'll remember her by.
shareWhile it wasn't a great film but I did enjoy seeing my favorite characters from one of my all time favorite movies.
shareI don’t think it sucked and it tried to recapture the charm of the original but it doesn’t quite get there. Most of the humor did not land at all and they went way too heavy with the “member berries”.. could they not write new scenes?
shareRemember, the original was told from a child's perspective, and this one was told from an adult's perspective. The tone was just right for me.
shareIt was fine. There are a lot of Christmas movies made nowadays that suck a whole lot more.
shareIt most definitely does not suck. In fact, it's probably the best Christmas movie since "A Christmas Story". I recently re-watched "Elf" and "Christmas Vacation", and this movie has them both beat. Billingsley and all the other cast members are excellent, and the writing captures the mood and humor perfectly. I laughed out loud at least a dozen times, which I haven't done during a movie in a long time. "A Christmas Story Christmas" is a worthy sequel to the original, and I'm adding it to the rotation of Christmas movies I watch every year.
shareIt looks and feels too modern. The original one looked and felt like it was actually taking place in the 1940s. That's the problem with modern films that are set in the past. They never capture the look and feel of the times they are trying to depict. It's a lost art these days.
share…except for Melinda Dillon’s very obviously 80’s hairstyle.
shareIt did a pretty good job of evoking the 1970s.
shareBut the cinematography feels like 2022. It's not the clothes or the hairstyles I'm talking about. I'm talking about the look of the movie itself. The original Christmas Story had a very vintage look and feel to it. If I didn't already know it and someone told me it was made in 1983 I would say No Way!. It's kinda like how the early seasons of the show "Happy Days" have a vintage 1950s "look" to them.
