Tony

What are your thoughts on Antonio, Mykelti's boyfriend?

I was neutral at first, wanting to wait and see, although I agreed that it's going fast.

I have to admit I was really turned off by a comment Antonio made. Kody said it was going to be hard having another wedding just a couple of months after the other daughter's wedding and Antonio says - "If the problems are financial you can get a loan against the house".

Uh.... OR..... Antonio and Mykelti can have a SMALL wedding and pay for it themselves, maybe? I don't think the Browns have enough equity in those houses after such a short time.

Who knows... it just rubbed me the wrong way.

reply

The only problem with them thinking that they should have to pay for it themselves is knowing that Kody is spending quite a lot of money on Maddie's wedding, so Mykelti feels like they should spend the same on her, which I don't think she is wrong for feeling that way.

I do think the way he said it was a little odd but I guess if you know your future in laws have 4 houses like mansions and that are reality tv stars paying money for one daughters wedding you would assume they would be able to pay for their other daughters wedding as well.

reply

Ha, that is a weird "solution" and certainly not his place to suggest that, however I have 0 pity, sympathy or empathy for Kody Brown with all of these upcoming weddings. First of all, I have never been a believer in post poning life to better accommodate someone else's time schedule. You get married when you find true love, not when it's convenient for those around you. If your cousin, sister or bridesmaid also found love around the same time and is getting married too, that's great. Double the joy. Secondly, in Kody's case particularly, what did he expect??? He's an animal going from one woman in heat to the next to maximize reproduction and now he has half a dozen kids within two yrs of each other..... did he not expect this "problem"?? (Weddings close together.) I know he's not the sharpest tool in the shed but come on ...

reply

I agree!

reply

I didn't think it was his place on the loan. That is totally wrong. But I truly think he is autistic. If he isn't then he is not "smart" about common sense things. I don't think he is a good match.

reply

"I don't think he is a good match."

Yeah.... I don't either.

reply

I am not a racist, but I married a man like Tony, at the age of 19. Young Mexican-American men are charming, and do what ever they can to get the young lady to marry them. After....it's a shambles. I've been there. I was expected to be bare foot and pregnant all the time. He didn't want to work, so I had to work, and take care of the kids.

Plus, Tony looked STONED. If he is a user, then it's even worse.

AND, that crack about taking a loan out on the house....RUDE! TOTALLY NOT HIS PLACE!!

Mykelti needs to re-think a bit.

I could have been killed, and you're drinkin'!
Hee Hee, made you look!

reply

I don't know........not quite sure about him......I get a troubling vibe.

Exactly! Plus it showed his ignorance with the future, and goes to show how some people get themselves under mountains of debt. Okay Tony & Mikelti might not have any students loans yet, but if they think its so easy t pay back the loan for a $30K wedding or something...or expect Mikelti's parents to take out a home equity loan just to pay for her wedding (especially if her parent weren't reality stars), then he needs a reality check. And gain much more maturity.

Oh, Gawd! I can't believe I missed the first half. I have got to see this Tony guy and now I have to wait for another hour.  As far as the money for the weddings, if they're on TV TLC pays for them. I can't believe they made that part of the show. But I did just hear that Maddie had 300 people at her wedding. 😱 What did they say after Tony said they could take a loan out on the house (s).  There are some of us who think they own the houses because there's no record of loans on file. But as far as paying for the wedding with equity in the house (s), no matter how much that is - no way!

reply

I don't believe that Kody heard him say that he (Kody) could just take a loan out against one of the houses to pay for the wedding. It was said when it was just Tony and Mykelti doing whatever it's called when they're just sitting there talking about what was just aired.

Well the entire family has heard Tony say it by now. They watch the show.

LOL Yeah I'd agree 300 guests at a wedding is a large crowd for your average wedding, although thats just a drop in the bucket, compared to the 1000 guests the three Duggar girls who've married so far have each had at their weddings. So if TLC helped foot the bill for the Duggar girls' weddings in 2014 & 2016, (though not their cousin Amy's in Aug/Sept 2015...lol), then the network paid for Maddie's wedding & will help pay for Mykelti's wedding to Tony as well. lol

reply

They don't help pay for them - they pay for them all. Sister Wives, especially since the Sam scandal and any Dugger show, especially since their scandal receive big ratings and TLC obviously makes a lot of money off both shows. So paying for these weddings, events and vacations is nothing to their budget.

reply

Yeah you're probably right...lol...though that might account for too why at two of the Duggar girls' weddings their receptions consisted of hot dogs or rootbeer floats...which would be less expensive than a sit down or full buffet meal for 1000. lol (Jinger's wedding to Jeremy earlier this month was broadcast already, though they didn't show the reception. Given that Jeremy is Italian American & a former pro soccer player worth around $800K, I could imagine their reception, like Jinger's gown, might've been a bit more extensive/filling. Or at least might've had more food. lol)

reply

I don't watch the Dugger's, but it sounds like the groom paid for the reception and it was the event they considered as the real celebration and the wedding was work. Remember, this is their job, so while their events are paid for, they have cameras all around them. Ugh. What normal person would want to get married in that environment?

reply

1000 people! I don't think I've spoken to 1000 different people in my life, let alone know 1000 people to ask to my wedding.

reply

At first I thought it was cool he had his own house...then I realized he meant Kody's house, and WOW. Balls.

reply

Oh yeah, the optics on this guy are not too good.  But they love him now. 

reply

Tony seemed pretty into being on camera ( yikes- ), it makes me wonder if he has reality star dreams?! He doesn't seem like the brightest bulb on the lamp ( that is the nicest way I could think of putting it).

reply

I thought that too. There's just something about him I don't trust. He seems a little... I don't know... smarmy?

reply

Before I finished reading your post, I thought 'smarmy' - yes that's it.

reply

Yeah, I haven't really had an opinion on him before last night. But now... I hoped that comment about Kody taking up a loan to pay for their wedding was a joke! But sadly not. I would never expect my parents to even help out financially for my wedding, not to mention pay for the whole thing (which it seems like Mykelti and Toni expected). If you don't have your things together in order to even pay for your own wedding, then you're probably not ready to get married.

reply

Tony seems to be about as sharp as a marble. He is definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

"If the problems are financial you can get a loan against the house".

If the problems are financial, they can just refuse to pay for your wedding. Parents paying for the wedding is a gift that they do not have to give.
