12/18 Episode Discussion Thread Madison gets married.
I won't be watching the live first run but I will watch later and be here later. I think pretty much all of tonight's episode is about Madison's wedding.
1- Don't ever allow Kody to officiate another wedding for the rest of his life. That was just painful and weird. 2- If you are continuing to lose weight, have one last fitting before the wedding. 3- They were there for 36 hours prior to the wedding, surely there was some point in those 36 hours Janelle could have gone fishing. 4- For all the bashing of Janelle, she sure seemed to be involved in everything that was going on. 5- For all the planning that Maddie did for 10 months, she should have started reigning in her father a little earlier. 6- Overall it was a nice wedding and Maddie looked beautiful, Janelle looked like a big fluffy blue cloud, and Kody raised douchery to a new level. 7-"...in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen." is taken directly from the sealing ceremony. Kody, that is blasphemy in a civil ceremony. 7- Did I mention don't allow Kody to officiate another wedding, ever?
Just a note to all of you gentiles: The exchange of rings is not part of an LDS Temple Sealing, nor a part of the same marriage ceremony that takes place in the AUB Church; however, for years the couple would exchange rings in the sealing room after the official ceremony took place. More recently a ring ceremony has become the 'in' thing in LDS weddings. The ring ceremony takes place just before the reception. (The LDS Church has a protocol for ring ceremonies so that it doesn't replicate the religious ceremony.) http://asimpleldswedding.com/Ringceremonies.html
Overall I give the episode a 9/10 and the wedding an 8.
Considering Maddie seemed to be the wedding planner, it went great, but I second the motion about Kody. I hope Mykelti had him walk her down the aisle and then Tony threw him in a chair.
Ugh no Janelle was not involved with everything going on, Meri was though. Janelle just got her makeup done and sat around, she was probably the least involved and didn't seem to lift a finger.
I think Janelle was a lot more involved than we were shown. Despite it seeming like we are privy to most aspects of their lives, there is a lot of stuff we do not see and have little knowledge of. And these types of boards are especially prone to speculation pulled mostly from thin air and imaginations.
Maddie and Janelle's discussion about having time to go fishing was actually included in the storyline, so it isn't exactly speculation pulled out of thin air. It seemed to be a genuine concern for Maddie, and even if Janelle just sat there and did nothing, just her presence there with her daughter would have been appreciated by Maddie.
In the name of the father, son and Holy Ghost is also Catholic. And not blasphemy to say it. It's said at the start and end of prayers, whether said by priest or your dad over dinner when saying grace. Say it when making the sign if the cross.
But he wasn't taking it from the Catholic Church he was taking it and several other phrases directly from the Mormon Sealing Ceremony. The ceremony, or any part of it, is not to be used outside of the temple.
Mariah looked awful. That dark lipstick with her dark hair and pale skin was not attractive. She was crying during the rehearsal, but looked agitated at the same time. She was tapping her foot and fidgety and her belly jiggled like a bowl full O jelly....
What is with the Brown girls and their home dye jobs? Mykelti tweeted dying her hair the other day. Maddie's hair looked like a home dye job at the wedding.
When the show first started the girls were all blonde and one by one they dyed their hair, starting with Maddie. But all of them, if they are going to dye their hair, need to visit a colorist, rather than doing the DIY Clairol treatment.
It's not always necessary to go to colorist, unless you're looking to spend a fortune for something you can achieve at home with a bit of time and effort. I color my own hair, but I did go to school for hairdressing a thousand years ago lol. My sister also trained as a hairdresser and did her own coloring for years until she recently started visiting a hairdresser friend of hers. In my opinion, her hair does not look any different than when she was doing it herself. But again, we were trained, albeit eons ago. 😁
If they all have light hair like Aspyn and the Brown boys, I have no idea why they dye their hair so dark? I know they want to be individuals, but I'm with you, Dude. They can afford to get their hair done professionally. Whatever a woman's natural color is, she should not dye or bleach it more than 3-4 shades different. It just doesn't look good.
When I was in high school I always dyed my hair either jet black or chocolate brown and I was naturally a very light brown. I looked AWFUL LOL. Now I either get very subtle low lights or high lights. Looks so much better and doesn't clash with my skin. All the girls need to start doing that. Their skin is WAY too fair to dye so dark.
I agree! They color their hair with really dark, almost goth looking dye. Very few people have only one color/tone of hair, and some subtle highlights would look better than one monotone stark shade.
The way they dye their hair reminds me of our oldest grandson who went through a goth period when he was 16 and dyed his hair black in our guest bathroom. For a kid that was born a towhead, it looked really bad. (He looked like Ronald Reagan with long hair.) His grandmother took him to her stylist for a better dye job that included natural looking hues.
The Brown kids are not hurting for money, at least have your hair professionally colored; especially since what you are doing looks really bad.
During a wedding ceremony? Even outdoors I think it would be polite to remove the hat. Conversely, all the mothers, especially Janelle, looked like they needed a hat to keep the sun out of their eyes. They were squinting and holding their hands up to block the sun because it was shining right on the front row.
I never understand how people outside in the sun go without sunglasses. Even in scripted TV, many characters squint and shade their eyes rather than wear proper eyerwear. I guess for TV they may think it looks bad?
I'm not sure how they know. When Erica got upset before the wedding she mumbled something about the flowers being her moms, and Caleb's brother told him the two happiest days in his life are his wedding day and when he holds his baby. Certainly not proof, but some think Maddie was already pregnant. If she miraculously delivers her child months early at full term weight then that might be proof.
Honestly I have no idea, but I hope it's true. It's so sad that Caleb's mother wasn't able to see her son get married.
What? Huh? That makes no sense whatsoever in concluding they were already married and she was pregnant. If she was already pregnant, then they would have fudged on the due date and then when the baby came even earlier they could say she/he was early. But 2 months is a stretch. As far as them being married already, there is no way to prove that unless Detective Dude can get the goods from the interweb.
The flowers? Are you unde the impression they put them in a time freeze and the flowers survived months? No they were not their mothers, Erica wa given a flower as she was standing in as mother of the groom. She was crying because her mother should have been there, the flowers should have been worn by mom.
As for the brother, he was saying the two happiest days Caleb will have are his wedding day and when he holds his first chill future tense, he wasn't talking about some wedding in the past and your conspiracy that she is already oregnant and will give birth to an eight pound baby at duc months pregnant.
I realize it's a stretch but his brother said it in a way that didn't sound like someday in the future. And Erika did say they were her moms flowers- I am sure she was missing her Mom very much. Caleb's dad seemed more than happy to cooperate with Kody on the ceremony. I think it seemed off that he didn't want to marry them. Not because I think he should, but because he seemed into it. Whatever.
Here is what I heard. The flowers would have been for the mom, but she died, so Erica got them. The brother was talking like Maya said, 'when that day comes' and I don't know how the father being in the ceremony or not has to play into this scenario, but I think that was more a storyline so Kody could make a fool of himself.
I hope it's true. I have a friend who was married in a hospital when her grandpa, who raised her, was taken ill. I love that she did that. They had a big party the day that they had planned to be married, later on.
That cake was disgusting. I don't eat meat, but even those who do had to be grossed out by that thing. When they were going on about the lifelike skin and layers of fat, I nearly gagged.I had to shut it off at that point. I'm almost gagging right now just thinking about it :)
