I saw this movie at two French film festivals - closing night for both. It was a very good film. Very good. It won 5 Cesars including best picture and director. Based on the real life case of Maud Marechal. At the time, I did have a problem with the ending only because I have seen so many Forensic Files. And so for me, it wasn’t as methodical as it should be but more character driven. And extremely rich stories within. Of course, at the viewing I knew nothing about the case. And therefore it was haunting. This is off topic, but the Danish series - The Investigation - based on a true story as well involving the murder of a Swedish journalist, Kim Wall - was methodical and with a resolution and therefore more satisfying. However, La unit du 12 is superior to this one because it’s cinematic.
Memories of a Murder I saw a long time ago was one of my favorite movies about serial murders in 1986 - 1994 in South Korea. The movie was made in 2003 but there was a lot more that continued in the news after the movie. Anybody watching all of these three will have a wonderful viewing experience.
