Am I the only person that likes this movie???
Guess it's only funny when you do have a mother just like Barbra Streisand's character....

shareI'm about half-way through the film. It became available on Netflix streaming. Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogan work well. But I wouldn't say it is a favorite film. Netflix streaming has slim pickins for my tastes and it is a film I will finish watching, so I like it enough. I'm enjoying reading people's comments about the film. They show me how the rest of the world thinks.
sharewish the film ended 6 months later. Andy with his new girlfriend go meet his mom, who now have that nice guy. that would be perfect.
shareI loved this movie. Seth and Barbra were wonderful and so believable in their parts. The writing was fantastic. It didn't go overboard on stupid scenarios like one might have expected. It was funny, heartwarming and smart - just right. I can only assume that the reason the rating here is a low 5.7 is because most of those voting were hoping for something more outrageous.
shareNope. Loved it.
shareNo, you are not alone. I like this move very much. Barbra S. did great job.
shareI liked it. For instance, I liked the bit in which they're checking into the first hotel. In the previous scene, they showed the son at the front desk insisting on two separate rooms. She protests about the expense. He's adamant. In the next scene, they're in the room and you see that it's one room with two beds. In other words, she won. I really liked how they didn't show her persuading/insisting/nagging (whatever she did to get him to get the cheaper one room) while they're at the front desk. You just see the result. She wins out and it's probably what has happened throughout her son's life. I thought that was well done.
It's not a great film, but it's a good film. There are parts that drag and parts that could have been sharper. The promo makes it sound like a laugh a minute comedy, so that kind of sets the film up for failure for a lot of viewers since it's more thoughtful and subtle than that.
I must say that I got distracted a few times by the amount of plastic surgery Barbra Streisand has had. There were times when she didn't even look old enough to have a son that age.
It's a delightful film, just watched & enjoyed it, annoyed I listened to bad reviews etc.

I didn't get a big kick out of it (rated it a 6), but dang---I wish I had a mother like her!!
Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!
I'm surprised how many people just HATE this movie. I enjoyed it. I usually am not a big fan of Barbra because her movies can be so self centered. But I actually thought her performance in this was actually kind of sweet. The chemistry between Rogan and her was fun to watch.
