Matt Bomer needs an Emmy...

Fantastic acting last night.

Matt Bomer deserves an Emmy. Best performance

reply

Yes he will get an Emmy no doubt. He didn't just give a great performance, he actually "became" Felix. I said this on another thread I just feel a tad sad that Joe Montello, who I thought was phenomenal as Mickey, would be competing in the same category.

The nominations come out today. Hope Matt and Joe Montello get the noms. And Ryan Murphy and the movie
as well. Fingers crossed

reply

Well he got nominated. So lets all keep our fingers crossed--actually cross every body part that can be crossed--that he leaves the Emmys with one in hand. He deserves it.

The Normal Heart is losing everything to this Sherlock crap nobody has ever heard of or cares about.

reply

it's insane. how can you watch matt's performance and not be torn apart?

reply

If you have any taste and humanity, you can't.

I wonder if the multiple 'Normal Heart' nominations in this category ended up cancelling one another out. That said, Matt's performance was so exceptional, it still should have won, and that it didn't is a disgrace to the Academy.

It sounds like the voting system is majorly flawed, with only a relatively small group of people deciding the winner from those nominated. Those people responsible should be ashamed of themselves for snubbing such an obviously deserving winner.

Sherlock is wonderful, it's a great show. But Matt should have won last night.

reply

I hate to agree but I do....I love Sherlock to bits. But Matt Bomer really would have deserved it.

I agree.

I'm so happy Benedict won, he should have won hands down 2012 so while series 3 of Sherlock was very weak in comparison with the first two I take this as belated recognition of the earlier seasons (which are television royalty). But while I like Martin Freeman a lot and he was excellent in Fargo (he got advantage from supporting actor voters seeing that show too cause his cast mate Colin Hanks was nominated for it) but his John Watson, great as it is, didn't imho deserve a win over Matt. I'm also a bit sad that Moffat won cause I don't like the man at all - though I don't like Murphy either lol but The Normal Heart was a billion miles ahead of Moffat's Sherlock episode His Last Vow which is the weakest in Sherlock history since one episode from 2010.

reply

I quite like Moffat because of this: "'The Normal Heart' is brilliant, just brilliant," Moffat said. "I feel guilty for every award we took from them. .."

reply

For me that just sounds like gloating but obviously I have an already negative opinion of him so I'm biaised. For me Murphy and Moffat are very similar: able to create great characters and shows but then get too up into their own greatness and turn their stories into self-destructing meta.

I was pleasantly surprised by his acting in this film. To be honest, I haven't seen much of his work and thought the attention he was getting was because of his looks & sex appeal. The scenes where he is suffering were very visceral and believable. I would have to say he probably gave one of the best performances of all the actors in this film (though I do think Ruffalo, Roberts, and Kitsch did a fine job too).

reply

I agree. What an actor! And the camera loves him.
