why did they cast a black guy to play that part?
the real guy wasnt black so why did they do something like this?

shareI didn't know the real guy wasn't black until the end, but it didn't make me didn't wish they'd cast someone else. I think often we white people are reluctant to imagine black actors playing parts that aren't specifically black, sometimes we cynically complain about political correctness/equality etc. especially when the question arises of having a black actor play a character that's always been white like James Bond. But at the end of this film I thought, yes, he was right for the part and it was refreshing.
shareIt was good contrast, between rich old french guy and young french black immigrant.
If it were an Arab, it wouldn't be such a visual thing, and cinema is a visual artform.
Why not? Does casting a black man always have anything to do with social justice or anything like that?
Some people are just paranoid.
I thought Omar Sy was great!
shareEven though arguments like this are pointless, I think in a case like this it's more about the story than the people themselves. Neither of them are particularly important. It's about their relationship. So as long as the movie captures that then who cares if it's an exact representation of the real people?
shareWas shocked at the end to find out it wasn't actually black guy. Pretty stupid.
