Is there any other reason to watch this except Eva Green??

The only thing right in this show is Eva Green. I wouldn't have bothered watching it if it wouldn't have been her as Morgan. other than that its just a piece of sh*t..

reply

Well, at least this show's Guinevere is better than the one from Merlin.

reply

why? because she was blonde, tall, and self-righteous?

At least the one from Merlin had more honor, class, a heart, leading qualities, and wasn't obsessively self-centered.

reply

I completely agree! Eva was the only good part of this show and the only reason I finished it. Sadly she is the only reason I'm glad I watched this crap because as horrible as I thought it was her performance was amazing!!!! Definitely the only time I ever cheered for someone winning against Arthur.

tamsin egerton is a poor man's eva green.

In the heart of darkness only, do we see the light.

reply

I don't even see the beginning of a tremor of slight ressemblance between the two to even compare them. They play in completely different leagues.

Actually, Eva Green gave me two very big -I mean good- reasons to watch the show.

LOl - exactly right...

I just finished the series, and it struck me - she was always asking what should she do now? Always depending on someone else to tell her what to do.

Even asking that stupid wolf how to proceed.

And then at the end, lying on the grave of the nun, asking what to do next.

For someone with her reputation, can't she make up her own ideas?

reply

I think you missed the part(s) that made it abundantly clear that she wasn't her own boss: she was a servant of the Devil/a demon/ Evil... and the wolf was a manifestation of that Master.

reply

Sorry, I don't think so...she may have used demons and magic, but she wasn't a servant. If she was, she would have known what to do without always asking, her boss would have told her.

And considering her reputation over the centuries, which was my point, it didn't look like she really deserved it.

Well, that is only your personal assumption, and it is not supported by the characterization of Morgan in this show. You may not like that she occasionally wonders at what to do next, or asks guidance of her Master, but that is the way she is consistently portrayed in the show.

I had indeed not understood that your point was about the medieval character and not this show's character. That being said, I'm not sure what sources you've read that have formed this image of Morgan in your mind. Traces of her are so elusive and often so contradictory, it is hard to consider her as a clearly-defined character in the modern sense. Also, I'm not sure why it is relevant to this show's Morgan, as "Camelot", like all other modern Arthurian adaptations, be they on screen or in novels, is very, very loosely based on Arthurian premises but does whatever it pleases with the story and the characters. Making up new ones, excluding traditional ones, and changing all sorts of bits and pieces to the ones they keep.

reply

Oh ok, you're saying it's a character unique to this show, and doesn't follow the traditional. Not that I've read a lot of her in any case. I can go with that.

But the image of her in this show seems to be tough, self-possessed, determined, and smart... but that image is all destroyed after about the third time she cries "what do I do now???"

reply

Yes, well, she is ALSO quite mentally unstable. She's a serial killer, she's always going to be dangerous. I just think she composed herself when it came down to it. She knew she was facing a legitimate blood heir so she'd need more of an arsenal to truly defeat him... that's no small task. She has to do EVEN more to win her people, the kingdom, set policies (and she's alone in that, whereas Arthur has advisors). If she doesn't have the upper hand, one setback, especially against someone with magic like Merlin working against her... she's doomed. Basically, she's a Type A psychopath who is continually unstable due to witchcraft which overwhelms her as well.

reply

agreed

reply

I'll look for more reasons as soon as I stop watching Eva Green. But that's very hard for me to do.
