This movie is really a piece of crap. Yeah yeah, I've heard all your excuses before but when you calm down and watch this film again in a couple years, you will understand that I'm right. Poorly written, poorly shot (same old crap Chivo's been doing for years), predictable, simplistic storyline. The bear scene and Tom hardy is really all this movie has going for it.

What makes me sick is how so many of you believe what the press feeds you. "This is art" it says. No, it isn't, at all. Watch a Tarkovsky or Malick film instead you SHEEP.

Oh yes, here we go again, another pretentious jerk who knows all & likes to try & make himself superior by downgrading all the other hopeless "sheep"! Wow! I didn't particularly think it was good as I had hoped. But I don't care to be told by some ahole who "thinks" he so damn smart what or why I watch what I want. KMA jerk!

I wouldn't say it's a piece of crap but I wouldn't say it's great either. If anything it gave you a great view of what the frontier was like back then. How tough life was. But I think it's far from a masterpiece. It really was more on the lame side.

Troll ? Who are you calling a troll ? I stated an honest opinion on an over-rated film. I honestly wish there was more substance to it. The film is loaded with close ups and should have had more landscapes and wider angle views of the terrain. I would've loved to have seen an opening scene depicting the planning of the hunt, maps or some form of an idea of where they were at times.

Instead the film contains scenes that seem to have been lopped together. I really don't understand John Fitzgerald's (Hardy's character) motivation, he's just a nasty antagonist, oh well, not deep enough for me to be drawn in as it seems some of you were.

Leo deserved an Oscar for Basketball Diaries, but not this film.

I thought it was so so, way to long. Leo wins an Oscar with saying very few words. Nevada Smith is a similar/better movie, but has no bear scene.
