You kids were told this was good and bought it

This movie is really a piece of crap. Yeah yeah, I've heard all your excuses before but when you calm down and watch this film again in a couple years, you will understand that I'm right. Poorly written, poorly shot (same old crap Chivo's been doing for years), predictable, simplistic storyline. The bear scene and Tom hardy is really all this movie has going for it.

What makes me sick is how so many of you believe what the press feeds you. "This is art" it says. No, it isn't, at all. Watch a Tarkovsky or Malick film instead you SHEEP.

I made him feel shame... my shame. ToL
Indies to watch:
Blue Ridge
Once
Shotgun Stories
Old Joy
The Lobster

It is a masterpiece.

It reminds me of a Jack London novel, which also describes survival situations

Those two were the weakest part of it.LOL

I won BEST PICTURE oh PRETENTIOUS one.

The OP is correct, this film is extremely over rated. Put a unknown actor in the lead character role and no one would have ever seen this film.

I didn't completely dislike it, but it's no where near as good as people have been praising it.

You mention Tarkovsky and The Lobster in the same post. Sounds like you're the one that's been buying what so-called experts have been selling.

I wouldn't say the film is crap... but it definitely did not live up to the hype. I finally got around to watching it on HBO and was so excited... and then so let down.

Tom hardy's transformation was great, idk who's saying his portrayal was weak.

The bear scene was one of the few exiting parts.

eho would've thought a movie that starts with action could turn out to be so dull. Yes the acting was good. But *beep* how many cuts to the trees and the sky do you really need in a film??

How many awkwardly long close ups on leo's tattered face do we need, muffled wheezing in the background.

And yes, being overly predictable is a bad thing. I mean we're taught in screenwriting the best scripts have twists. Not saying they all have to or should, but how many mentions of the chiefs daughter does it take for it to be drilled into our heads that she's going to end up being his saving grace??

Just, ugh, I really wanted to like this film. And I just couldn't.
