Hated the 'gay' storyline/character

I agree with the comments that the movie was just awful...really pretentious and hipster. And, of course, there is a gay best friend. I'm an athletic director at a high school, and if you watched tv or movies, you would think homosexuals were rampant, and it's simply not the case. And some students actually have some sense of morality and values and don't accept it. This movie was a total turd. Felt a bit bad for Emma Watson, though. She tried so hard to get the American accent right that it seemed to hamper her overall performance.

You're shameless and the fact you're "athletic director" shows you've never had to exercise your brain in years (decades?) It's very apparent in your ignorance. You're a fool if you think you know the sexuality of students at your school.

The movie is based off the book, WRITTEN IN THE EARLY 90'S, being gay was not some type of 'movement' or something to flaunt around, this 'Hipster Garbage' was not satire at that time, it was just those people. You probably are an idiot, because you can't get a REAL job,so I will give you some slack

It wasn't horrid, awful, crappy, bad...

A very good coming of age story, a drama with a twist, a very sweet tasteful film it is.

The characters are rather believable, so is the story.

Miller and the slut were two handsome people pleasant to watch.

Nothing pretentious. And what is 'hipster'? There's no such thing.

On the other hand it's believable homosexuals aren't rampant in high school. That doesn't make the film any worse.

Thompson actually succeeded in imitating your accent.
