Wanted to be a Spielberg Film SOO BADLY

Wanted to be a Spielberg Film SOO BADLY
Just saying it did. It's not enough that he produced this film, it just wanted to be one of his films and not original at all. It sorta like the first Poltergeist.

Remember how this was supposed to be the new nostalgia movie for the next generation? How kids today would grow up and treat this P.O.S. like kids in the 80s treated Goonies or E.T. or or Stand by Me?

And then everyone just kinda forgot about this movie. LOL

Kids today are on their Iphones or Ipads. You apparently didn't forget about this movie though.

I did forget about this movie. I had the TV on and this came on after the show that I was watching.

I didn't much like the film in the cinema. I watched it again on DVD last night. Apparently more IMDb responders scored it a 7 than anything else. I think that's about right. For me, it was a disappointment. Perhaps Spielberg should have spent more time on the set, and certainly more time on the script.

Nothing you said makes any sense.

If you don't identify the individual styles of the directors you mentioned you don't know anything about the craft of cinema.

I can give you some Spielberg trademarks this movie tried to recreate:

The Dolly-In shot that ends in a dramatic closeup of a character, Close Encounters has a lot of memorable ones, some people call it "The Spielberg face". Just take a look at this compilation:

Overlapping dialogue, Spielberg has done this since Sugarland Express, all of his films have a scene where multiple characters are talking at the same time.

Use of reflections, the most famous one is from the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, but i prefer this one from War of the Worlds with a little dolly-in shot included. No matter what you think of that movie, it had the most amazing cinematography i've seen from the genre:

Heavy backlight, he likes to puts his characters against a heavy shiny background:

My favorite one is from AI. That shot at 2:38 is breathtaking:

To finalize, I suggest you watch this video essay.
