wow look at those guns

do you think those are fake biceps or did Kevin James actually get into shape for this?

reply

This link has two photos: the one used by the film showing James from the shoulders up; and a later photo showing his entire body.

It's not pretty. You rarely see people that big who still walk around outside.

Why is the validity of a 46 year old Kevin James becoming a MMA fighter being questioned? The movie is not about hims. It's about a character.

The character is 42 and shows to not be a fat as Kevin was, and who is to say if her ever was. it doesn't need to be real.

It just needs to be believable for the sake of the story. Is it improbable? Of course. So is every underdog story. That's the point.

We both have Star Wars related screen names. Win.

Besides the character is supposed to have some background in sports, so its not entirely implausible, professional MMA fighters are quite old in general (30's) so since he is doing semi pro or non-pro MMA, he can very well be in his 40s (the character)

reply

Agreed, he's looking pretty good, I've always had a crush on him and I'm in lust after seeing those guns.

Check out any picture of James today. He is heavier than he ever was.

The only "boom" in this movie are Kevin James's farts...

Oh sir, you have such a rapier wit! Well, a corked-rapier, but still, reading this is slightly better than having a rolled-up newspaper shoved up your ass, which, of course, is your forte. You're a "wide-receiver", and one hell of one at that!

I seem to recall that KJ lost some weight while he was on King of Queens, out of concern for his health. It's possible that at that time MMA was getting big, so he started putting in some effort to get in shape, possibly hoping to do a movie like this. Also, if he played football in college, he was probably in pretty decent shape back then. When he started working out for this movie, muscle memory kicked in, and his muscles responded fairly quickly to training. He probably did some trainig with real fighters to learn the moves, to try to make them look realistic, but I don't think anyone would seriously argue that Kevin James, the actor, was in anyway capable of actually competing in an actual bout.

Not gonna search through this entire thread. But look up Butterbean, Eric Esch. He was a lot heavier than James and fights at a high level.

That's the benefit of having 7 billion people on this planet. Every once in a while, one of them will be able to do something that the rest of us can't.

Nevertheless, a fat successful athlete is still fat. If you play pro football, you belong to a group that dies a couple of decades before the average person.

Mairzy doats and dozy doats, but liddle lamzi nothing.

am I the only one who thought this was about Salma's assets?

must have worked his ass off =) i mean it takes time to get muscles and takes time to do a movie so i wonder if it took longer to make the movie because of waiting for him the get bigger =)

reply

i really wish he keep his shape, you don't have to be fat to be funny or at least not forever. look at seth rogen and jonan hill's careers

reply

Yeah i was surprised to see James looking very bulky and strong, i mean he still has some weight obviously, but damn he look "strong" and not fat.

But when i entered the thread, honestly i tough it was about Salma's boobs :P
