In the true story, they weren't Cricket players.

Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel were Javelin throwers rather than fast bowlers.

PS: They choose India to search for fast bowlers. Ohhh Hollywood. I can never fanthom thy ignorance.

If you paid attention to the movie, it makes it clear that they weren't cricket players. The sports manager was looking for cricket players, but ended up with them because they could throw a ball over 80mph. They even talk about the fact that they aren't cricket players. Just because everyone in India plays cricket, that doesn't make them "cricket players".

In the movie, they made it clear more than once that Rinku and Dinesh were not cricket players (but JB didn't know that when he recruited them). IIRC Rinku was a javelin thrower and Dinesh was doing tracks (and helping his father at the same time). They didn't even like cricket. They were recruited for their ability to throw the ball faster than most. In a way it may have helped them to not be cricket players because their muscles were not trained for the cricket like throwing motion, which may have made it easier for them to transition into baseball throwing/pitching.

And they werent cricket players in the movie either, maybe you should actually watch it!

This fact was stated in the movie; did you watch the movie?

reply

This could have worked better in Pakistan who are always better/stronger/faster bowlers than indians who are always better with the bat... imagine someone like shoaib akhtar or brett lee playing baseball... 100mph all the time... and no problem of chucking too:D

In case you're one of those people who complain about a movie without actually watching it, I'll explain it to you. In the movie, on the ride from the airport to the hotel in Los Angeles, Aash says to Dinesh and Rinku that he can finally watch cricket with people who enjoy the game. Dinesh and Rinku speak to each other in their language. Amit translates what Dinesh and Rinku said as they don't like cricket. Aash says that's ridiculous because they are cricket players. Amit says they're not. He says Rinku is a javelin thrower and Dinesh played field hockey. In the Hollywood movie, they're not fast bowlers.

It was mentioned in the film that they weren't cricketers but javelin throwers. Pay attention next time before you start such a stupid thread.

This is explained in the film when they first arrive to America. Whilst they're in the car it is revealed to Mr. JB that they're not in fact cricketers but "Olympians"
