Will this movie make Jon Hamm a bona fide movie star?

I realize he has had some good movie roles since "Mad Men" started, but he has been primarily a supporting actor. He was funny in "Bridesmaids" and appropriately dramatic in "The Town", but he was not really the lead in those flicks. "Mad Men" has only one year left and it is time for Jon to posture himself for the post-MM era. It will be interesting to see if this movie does that.

I just became aware of Hamm from watching MM. One of the reasons I went to see Million Dollar Arm was to see him in a different character. I thought he did a pretty good job here. And the movie was pretty good too. I wish him good luck in his career.

Hamm's curse, if you like, is his chiseled good looks. He does not project vulnerability on any wavelength. He will have to try something more extremely against type to prove his versatility to his audience and the critics. One saving grace is that he has a sense of humor. Very subtle.

You don't think Jon Hamm can project vulnerbility? I don't think you've watched Mad Men. If you had you would realize how amazing Jon Hamm is. He has wonderfully given us the tough guy who is falling apart right in front of our eyes. Don knows he is losing it and he is trying but he just doesn't know how to save himself. Jon Hamm is the perfect Don Draper and he has so much range. I hope he makes it on the big screen but if not then I hope to see him again on the small screen.

This movie wouldn't have the means to make anyone a "bona fide movie star".
It was no where near the quality of "The Blind Side".

he is a fine actor( one look from mad men I knew it!) and he will get better bigger chances in future for sure!

Anybody who has watched Mad Men knows that Hamm is an excellent actor. He also has a lot of presence, looks good, and can play a real man, like back in the day. There are very few actors that fit that description anymore.

For the next couple of years, he is going to have a hard time shaking Draper. When I see him in anything right now, I see Draper. I think he has a chance to overcome that because he can act, but he is going to have to make some good choices.

Perhaps he can find a really great movie in the near future, but IMO, great movies are few and far between.

Personally, as a fan of his work, I wouldn't mind seeing him in another series. I would like to see him on TV every week instead once in a blue moon in a crappy movie, that I might only watch because he is involved.
