So what was the point of the homosexual kiss?

Neither character is gay or bi beyond that single scene. Seems like they put that in there for the sole purpose of sticking it in the trailer to appeal to the LGBT crowd. Lame.

It establishes that there is a sexual dynamic/tension between the two men. I do think that both are implied to be bi.

reply

Implied but with zero significance to the plot. Implied for the sake of tricking the LGBT crowd to buy tickets.

The film is a gay romance disguised as a heterosexual love triangle. The reason for all the weird homoerotic scenes is because they're intentional; both the director and writer are gay, and they made a strange kind of gay romance film where Zendaya's character is both antagonist and what ultimately brings them together.

reply

The writer is actually a straight married male.

reply

You seen a photo of his wife? He's gay.

reply

Not sure why he would get married to her then. Being gay is not a bad thing and is not frowned upon in entertainment industry. Although I do agree that the movie does entertain a homosexual subtext, but it is never given enough depth to classify the movie as LGBT in my opinion.

reply

So if a white man marries an Asian woman he's gay? She is Canadian, about the same age as him, and very smart, and director of Oscar nominated ''Past Lives'. Why WOULDN'T any man want to marry her? And you are wrong about the movie as well. Learn to stay awake during movies!

reply

Well I’d imagine several guys would rather bang other guys if their only other option is the scrawny, flat chested, unattractive Zendaya.

She’s basically a guy with no dick (as far as we know).

reply

I think she's pretty but agree with you in that she does have the body of a little boy. She's also not a particularly great actress; mediocre at best. You gotta wonder why they've been pushing her as the "next big thing" these last few years. Surely there are way, way better actresses out there more deserving of the attention.

reply

Again, watch movies with your EYES OPEN. Zendaya has acted amazing in this movie.

reply

Again, watch movies with your EYES OPEN. Zendaya has acted awfully in this movie.

reply

Exactly, which makes you wonder who the film is aimed at, because straight women hate seeing guys kiss more than straight guys do.

reply

You have to accept the evidence the movie presents that they were bi. If it " triggers" you to the point where you have to complain on a movie board, perhaps you have to examine your own "point" of view.

reply

The evidence points to it being a ploy to trick the LGBT crowd into paying to watch the movie. It seems you're the one that's triggered by my post.

reply

Still complaining? Homophobia is very declasse as a form of bigotry, don't you know? Really very 20th century. Why does the "LGBTQ" crowd frighten you so much? Try to keep up before you're buried in social offal. You'll never get a wife or husband these days with that attitude. Just a word of advice.

reply

Were you smelling your own farts when you wrote that drivel? I'll say it again, that kiss had absolutely zero significance to the plot and was strategically placed in the trailer to attract numpties like you to the theatre. Looks like it worked. Shit for brains.

reply

🫤

reply

The main problem with your argument is that that kiss is not shown in either trailer. It's only in your head, for some reason...

reply

The point was to establish some "heat", an "edge" to the friendship. I think.

reply

They were straight, extremely close, passionate although platonic, best friends.

She knew they were extremely close and confirmed it to herself and them by having them makeout with each other. Alternate title could've easily been "Bros before Hos".
