Tennis ball in the neck of the racket (SPOILERS)
That... was very predictable.
From the first momemt they mentioned it in that earlier scene i knew it was bound to come up in their current day match somehow. I mean, it was PAINFULLY obvious.
Overall though, i enjoyed the movie, apart from some other things:
- It's sprinkled with woke idiocy here and there.
- Trent Reznor's score, while good, was all over the place and overused. The erratic editing and pacing didn't help this.
- The chair referee looked like he came straight out of the Met Gala for the tennis match
- The last scene was definitely inspired by the last sequence from Whiplash, but nowhere near as virtuous
- The movie is too horny. Not an inherently bad thing, but it didn't work here.
- Zendaya's character was annoying. But she has one redeeming quality, which is her passion for tennis. And i liked how that was the point of the movie: she was in love with the *sport*, not with either of them. Again, just like the teacher in Whiplash, who wants to see a great solo once more, her goal was to see a great tennis match, and in the end she finally got just that. But her character could be better developed.
i give it about a 7.3/10. What did you guys think? :/
