This was just starting to get interesting It's always the same, shows start getting good with good figures esp on Sky One in the UK and then they cancel leaving storylines in the air and no ending like Angel and Sarah Connor Why Why Why??
Because quite simply the show was going a direction that FOX could not allow. Remember FOX is owned by Rupert Murdoch, one of the worlds greatest ideologues. Every show on FOX that took an opinion different from those of Murdoch has been cancelled after a single season.
The real reason why it was cancelled is the following.
I was so angry with firefly being cancelled - I snuck into the Execs and directors trailer. Here i sprinkled cocaine all over the place and killed a bunch of hookers.
That'll teach em!
Dont worry, I plan to do the same with Fallen Skies. You can thank me all when I accomplish the mission.
Well I think that angel and sarah conor got cancelled cos they got *beep* Even though terra nova was pretty good, it was getting a bit bitchy and that annoying mass media viewers trick back fired. The bitchiness took over a little, of the good parts of it.
But I still liked it more than not. So if they improve it a bit, by taking out the suposed viewer attraction bitchiness, they'll have more people liking it, which would convince investors to get it back on.
alright, i think this discussion its dead up to this day as the show. but i must point out that the breaking point was the spoilers that where leaking with each episode, that if you are an excecutive on a tv network with a insanely over-priced tv show that its not working, you should pull the plug off. if the show was to countinue on, it was not going to work on terra nova (or not entirely) in next seasons, with the magical wormhole portal, the son of taylor was going to opening it again, to bring more reinforcements to destroy terra nova settlement and take over, to drain all the natural resources for the future (yeah sure you bringing water, air, etc from another time line in an alternate universe, where the planet earth its 99% dead and polluted beyond repair, that will fix it. that`s the first issue) and it even was mentioned (in one of the episodes by the actor`s they mentioned a sea ship from 1813) that in the time/parallel wormhole war that was coming between taylor and his son, the main characters will travel trough time (some sort of sick quantum leap, but jumping in time with their own bodies fixing the s*it made by taylor`s son and his evil team to control the future? ) so i guess it was the best. the show was promising to see how a colony on the past in an alternate time line how it would work, but once you insert a team of evil insane people jumping into random time places in the "main" time line (the universe where the pilot started, where the TN people came from but messing with the past and future) thats a dead end. sure life on TN will become boredom if taylor son and evil people that wanna take the natural resoures will be solved. but converting the show into an insane time travel show... thats just too much. and the calculations leave behind from taylor son to taylor where the way to force the wormhole to time travel to different places (in an over-crowded future that are so many people in so many countries that you can have only 2 child`s per family, one single guy its the one that in the wilderness, going insane and running for his life, with a NASA server that since it is from the future it looks as a weird holographic tablet, he is the only one that figures out how to bend over the wormhole to his needs) what i am tryng to say its, that it was the best to cancel this show. if it was to countinue on TN without all the bulls*it from time travelling and this "time travel heroes" the show was also short to live by because the life on TN without bad guys will be boring (the sixers near the end of the show, even that it was modified for the finale of the show, but managed to deal a peace deal to recover TN after taylor`s son take it over by the bad way) an example i can give to you, about a show that starts with a theme and changes insanely fast (maybe to get over more views, or just by the wimpse of somebody in control of the creative stuff) changes too fast and it falls apart, its the show tru calling. the first season deals with a girl that meets dead corpses on the morgue where she works, the dead body looks at her and asks "help me" and she relives the day tring to save that or those persons (on some episode for example on an horrible accident several bodies can ask her for help) but for the 2 season from the begening, they included a new character, witch was the "opposite" of her, a guy that did anything that he needed to do, so the person or person`s will have their horrible death, because the universe works as the "yin-yang" (good-bad) balance. witch was totally insane i mean in some cases it was almost this guy murdering the person even after tru save the person. and that killed the show. TN whould have died the season they had started "jumping" from any time to time following taylor son to stop he, the people that he works for and his henchmen some sort of time traveling gods that with high tech would rule over the world in the past present and future? (really how come a person be 100% of the time everywhere anywhere? perhaps he was going to clonate himself???? that is some crazy sh*t!
And what was the problem with the slasher chewing on the leg of that boy?
I wish I could find the clip, the big beefy dinosaur looming over the boy, lightly shaking his unconscious body with the leg held gently in its jaws.
He DID actually limp kinda seriously when he showed up much later in tghe show.
I should bloody well hope that he did kinda limp later. He should have been dinosaur poop in the picturesque picnic area by then.
And what about the girl surrounded by all those slashers in the dark woods just before the commercial break! She was lucky to have escaped with only a few scratches. No wonder she fainted!
Over 4 years later and scenes from this show are still imprinted on my brain.

The show' ratings were actually pretty decent but not as high as Fox was hoping for. I guess the lower than expected ratings in addition to the expensive production costs including the visual effects is what caused the show to not get another chance that it should have.
I was thinking the same thing. It was a good show. good actors and good characters were thought into this. Had me wanting to watch more. But it looks like this tv show was expensive. So If I had to take a guess, money would be the issue. I think it ended well though
It felt like a family drama in a sci-fi setting, I for one don't want to watch cranky teenagers (who need a good spanking) and parents who are not in control of the situations for an hour. This alone made the premise of the show (back in time fighting for survival) totally unbelievable, I wouldn’t put all of that on the actors though because trying to make ridiculous scenarios seem believable is obviously tough.
Another very bad plot issue is the overly hardnosed military leader with many, many years of jungle warfare experience display a total inability to sort out a bunch of civvies living in the jungle with limited supplies from walking in to his compound seemingly at will. Really?
This show tried so hard to walk the liberal middle ground that if one where to remove the sci-fi aspect it could be a reality show about troubled teens with stupid parents!?!
The best bit of this whole show was Allison Miller in her bikini in the beginning and when that didn’t happen again...
From someone in the UK's point of veiw, I think it was aired at the wrong times. This show is clearly aimed at the 8-12 year old demographic, and as such was shown a little too late.
I thought the show was great too. Suspension of disbelief, yeah a lot. But it was fun, and exciting. One thing I can't get away from when I watch the eps. is how much they must cost - I figured that was part of the reason for cancellation. Too bad.
Totally agree - something good and different comes along in Sci Fi world and what happens, it gets a booth (for whatever reason). Maybe it was expensive to get if off the ground, but it wouldn't of cost as much 2nd, 3rd season.. anyhow, I hope they resurrect it somehow (and very soon).. Good Stuff TN!!!
It is a great season 1 and has a tremendous potential - it's just that someone decided it's too much for them to go on with subsequent seasons... pity :(
