They’re lucky coronavirus hit

They needed an excuse for this to bomb, and coronavirus is a decent excuse. The film was destined to be a massive flop regardless.

I’m not even sure how this film got greenlit with its massive budget. An actor who isn’t that bankable leading a franchise based on comics nobody has heard of? I’m sure the comics are fine but they’ll be lucky to make even half of their budget.

Still better than that Hellboy reboot.

No lies there...

Bloodshot is a miserable misfire...

I believe that in 2020, in no universe is a $45 million budget considered massive. But you're right that it bombed.

I think it's a shame. I didn't expect much from the film but just wanted to see a movie one night, so I rolled the dice. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I thought it was an interesting and well-directed sci-fi action movie.

The problem is always the same, the people who green light this kind of crap don’t actually watch the movies or read the comics, they just look at statistics, they look at vin diesel and fast and the furious and say “MORE OF HIM PLEASE”

If someone goes like “but sir, this guy flops everywhere except in those car movies, and...”.

DID YOU JUST TALK BACK TO ME YOU POS?

sorry sir! Diesel it is!

They have no clue, of anyone had any clue vin diesel wouldn’t be in any sort of action movies anymore (other than fast and furious) because they just bomb and the guy has no appeal. Surprisingly he is not a bad dramatic actor when he needs to be, he is just a horrible action star (who would have thought) he should try to do something else, for real

reply

Well, like I said, I enjoyed it. It's not a classic, but it wasn't a bad Friday night at the movies either.

You're obviously correct though that Diesel just doesn't draw if it's not a franchise film that already has an established fanbase.

Your point about him being a capable dramatic actor is well-taken also. I liked him in Boiler Room, and he was also good in his dramedic (is that a word?) role in Find Me Guilty as well. For whatever reason though, he just doesn't do anything but action. I don't know if it's because he never gets offered anything else or if it's because that's all he's interested in.

reply

Yeah I think its because its impossible to see him in something else, nobody really knows he is a good actor. (with that name it probably doesn't help, can’t see a casting going “with Daniel day Lewis and Vin Diesel”) remember how good his short scene in saving private ryan was?

reply

Damn, I totally forgot that he was even in that movie. Crazy to think that he once worked with one of the greatest directors of all time in one of the greatest movies of all time.

He basically went backward in his career. He started out with the good shit and then went slowly downhill. Even the first Fast and the Furious movie was better than any of the sequels that came after it.

reply

It's getting a sequel, believe it or not.
