Why didn't Tom notice Samantha's old car? (Spoiler)

We were shown that Tom sat in Samantha's car and tried to start it. Tom was from 2011 and Samantha's car must be a 60's model. Why didn't he notice that and made any observation or remark?

The plot would have been ruined had he mentioned something about the car so we have to just assume that he thought that Samantha was just driving an old car and he didnt pay much attention to it otherwise.

He did say something about it and Samantha says it runs slow. Tom was looking at the car from a vintage car standpoint.

He does notice it, he tells Samantha that it's a "pretty cool car", "it's a classic" and Samantha answers that "it's kinda slow a, beaten up, I don't know" not really understanding what Tom meant by "classic". On the other hand, it's not that strange to have classic cars still being used in the US.

It's Jody who notices that something is odd about Samantha's style when they are arguing about the money being printed "in 1984", which from Samantha's point of view is "the future". Jody then seems to notice that Samantha's clothes and style does not fit the 80's era.
