Danny McBride

I love his awkwardness and sense of humour...it fits perfectly with the 'Will Ferrell' style of comedy.

However, he's not a character actor. Supporting roles does not mean character actor. Most people don't even know what this is. The Wikipedia page for character acting was a complete mess the last time I checked...you should read the comments on it.

No one can play the egocentric buffoon better than Danny McBride. He's hilarious at it, but doesn't seem to have much range.

I thought Red was the funniest part of Pineapple Express lol, I watch that one scene when they visit his house all the time. Eastbound is great in my opinion, and there's actually considerable depth to Kenny Powers, shown in a few episodes. Foot Fist Way was okay, nothing spectacular, very low budget.

You don't really need range to be considered a character actor, you just need be cast often in supporting roles.

I'm surprised you don't like him, in my experience he's universally considered hilarious,

Better keep it that way about not seeing The Foot Fist way and Your Highness if you didn't like him before. Personaly I didn't even mind him that much in Tropic Thunder but his lead roles in those other two films were downright pathetic, not even worthy of calling it a typecast if you ask me...

2nd flop? The movie just came out 2 days ago. What a *beep* moron. If it doesn't do well in theaters it usually makes up for it in rentals, DVD/Blu sales and diehard fans buying the movie. I think Danny McBride is one of the best going. Gotta love these morons that love to hate on these actors especially after only 2 days and already calling it a flop. Just because you didn't go see it doesn't make it a flop. You aren't the entire world, moron.

I've never met anyone in person that didn't think he was hilarious. I personally think next to Franco, that he was the best part of 'Pineapple Express'. He was great in 'Tropic Thunder' as well for the small role he had.

Perhaps his brand of humor is above many people's heads, but I'll watch him in anything.

I feel like McBride's comedy is the opposite of what you described. He is satirical towards the jock-bully-douchebag type. He always portrays that type of guy to make them look ridiculous.

Me either I think hes funny but tends to bring the same character for multiple films/ shows. He always plays a low life loser who also happens to be a jerk.

Eastbound/Land of the Lost/Pineapple Express relatively the same guy just varying degrees of how much a jerk he plays.
