Hollywood has problems... Biiig problems.

I'm sorry but when a mindless, forgettable, and generic action film like Red 2 gets a big push, opens to over $18 million and gets better "critic" reviews. While Only God Forgives an inventive, creative, daring, and ultimately good movie and piece of cinematic art goes right over people's heads, gets absolutely *beep* on by feeble critics and released to VOD it's really scary to think how unintelligent people are in this instant no attention span day and age.

Now more than ever when it comes to movies people don't want to be provoked, they don't want a complex plot or characters that requires you to look further than just the images on the screen. They just want the same thing they've already scene with the same recycled actors... Damn shame, no wonder everyone (now possible including Refn)is going to television.

If you're a fan of this movie/Refn go read/watch some interviews with him regarding OGF and Hollywood min general... You'll respect and like him that much more.

P.S. I can't even remember the last movie that has had me on the message boards like this.

I don't think it's a good movie, I read the review on all movie guide, and saw the rating on there and on imdb. I also saw all the reviews on Youtube and all but one is favorable. Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic and Amazon all say it's bad. Fandango gives it a 3 out of 5 however. That's not too positive. Ebert hated it as well.

Are you kidding? Ebert wasnt even alive to witness it you dumb ass, his close friend Richard Roeper on the other hand absolutely loved it along with many other media outlets like Empire and The Guardian. Also, have you even seen the film? Who bases their opinion off reviews and ratings without even witnessing it for themselves? Go figure.

whatever just admit drive was way better.
ANd the other thing yea, I have seen it of course.
And yea I realize some critics loves it , I think they were high when they saw it.

How can you compare this movie to Drive when its a completely different type of film, they have no similarity in structure/narrative or style

they should have just made a drive sequel. I thought these people make movies in order to make money. these people could have been swimming in cash and made 10 more crappy movies like only god forgives with all the money they got from drive 2.

This movie is not complex. It's boring and simplistic. All it has going for it is it's photography.

red 2 has actors that everybody knows and want to see. actors are an important part of movies.
