You know what this movie could have used????

At least ten more scary things jumping out at Daniel Radcliffe. If it doesn't work the first time, just jam more and more in.

More HORRID dialog: 'But you have something they don't.' (a car.) LOL!!! along with several more 'But I saw her, I saw something, I think I saw something'.

Many more darkly lit sets with ghost voices whispering and creepy toys. Too bad those toys couldn't sew together a better film!

If he had just kept working on the paperwork instead of running around the house and grounds all the time he could have been done with it and back home before his son got on the train to go meet him there.

it could have used a MORE ORIGINAL SCRIPT.
Not a "Been there/Done that" story...

A little bit of male intuition. After Arthur had figured out that Jennet had a baby out of wedlock (in what was the Victorian Era), he should have 'high-tailed it' out of there. LOL.

Better editing. Thank God for fast forward. I liked the look of it, though.

This movie was frustrating because its atmospheric and the actors turned in solid performances but they relied on cheap old horror tropes and didn't do anything interesting with them which is the ultimate sin. The Conjuring was a much more effective traditional horror film with its own spin on tried and true horror film techniques.

At one point there is a bird scare you can see coming a mile away. Okay a bird scare isn't the end of the world but it's right up there with a cat scare (another feature here). The true moment of idiocy though is when they repeat the bird jump scare 10 seconds after the first. Yes that's right, one bird scare wasn't enough, here's a double bird jump scare. To make matters worse it's the same damned bird.

I burst out laughing when it happened and couldn't take the movie seriously for another 30 minutes.
