questions

So when Tess goes to the interview and mentions where she is staying the lady seems surprised and wanted to say something but Tess cuts her off. Did people know what was happening there?

Why was that house so nice looking in that area surrounded by abandoned burnt down houses? How/why would people even go there to stay?

Who built those tunnels? were they old mine tunnels?

Why didn't the agent know anyone was staying there or double booked the house?

reply

1. Yes. Although I'm not sure why people continued to stay in that area.

2. Maybe to draw attention away from what was going on in the tunnels. A house that looks like it's in shambles may make people more suspicious.

4. They used different apps to book the house.

I was actually confused about the woman/creature. If she/it was a victim of decades of rape, why was she a creature? We knew the old man who was the original owner was abducting and raping women, but what exactly was she/it?

reply

The homeless man explains that she was the product of several lines of inbreeding. The man was having kids with the women, then having kids with those kids...

Incest normally causes issues, here they're saying it lead to her large size, mental health issues and extreme stength/durability.

She was simply a human, though generations of incest made her abnormally strong.

reply

I find it weird how it would increase her size. But also, the first time we see her she lets out a loud roar instead of a yell. I think it would have been better if they kept her a normal human size who just lost he ability to speak.

Frank's serial killing and kidnapping started in the 1980's. There wasn't enough time for several generations of inbreeding to produce that woman.

it think the locals would have burnt this place to the ground when it was empty.

The tunnels were dug by the previous owner that was doing the abducting and raping. Notice the tools in the house in the flashback and muddy clothes etc.

1). The lady probably knew the area was a slum (not that there was crazy maternal figure in some house). Tess drives around for a while and sees all those run down places. So the place probably had a reputation for being bad

2). The house remained nice for unclear reasons: possibly, mother comes out and fixes the place at night. Or possibly, the inhabitants of that area just know about mother and the building’s past, so they stay away out of fear

3).the old dude who lured women build all that stuff down there

4). We’re led to believe that the double-booking was an honest error by whoever rented out the house in the Airbnb websites
