Starts GREAT, then Justin Long appears…

…and it goes into the tank. All the atmosphere that was built in the first 60% of the film deteriorates into B-movie crap once he hits the screen & changes all the momentum for the worst. First 60% of the film were a 9/10. Last 40% were a 3/10.

It was a bit weird that ine.

That's a phenomenon known as the Justin Long effect, if Justin Long is in a movie, that movie automatically become in The Room

reply

I like the very end of "Drag Me To Hell"

reply

I liked it. It took a turn for the somewhat weird when they found the secret rooms in the basement, but I thought it was still pretty suspenseful. I was still into the movie.

reply

I didn't even know he was in this.

I dont have a problem with Justin Long the actor, but I didn’t like the comedy stuff that his character imparted in this movie. The movie should have stuck to serious horror

reply

Yeah, it wasn’t so much the actor but the writing. That switch completely deflated the momentum the movie had going up to that point and it just doesn’t recovers after it.

reply

I feel like he said "what the fuck?" way too many times. Understandable given the situation he was in, but it's just shitty writing.

reply

No, it doesn't start "great." That first 15 minutes or so of dialog between the dude and the chick was more painful than any of the tortures served up later in the film. It doesn't help that the actors were below par and really couldn't "sell it," but I think any freshman English major could have written more interesting dialog than that drivel. If I thought that this were a serious drama rather than a horror flick I would not have finished the movie.

What everyone said except I don't see left turns as something negative.
