The next John Carter?
The teaser trailer instantly reminded me of John Carter. Unlike Mortal Engines, the moving city in John Carter was NOT part of the book it was based upon, but merely the director's fabrication.

shareIt look much better than John Carter though.
shareI liked John Carter. I think it will be a Jupiter Ascending.
shareThat's a pity. Despite both movies' unpopularity, I liked both.
shareI liked both also :)
shareMy husband and I both enjoyed John Carter and Jupiter Ascending, and I have also always enjoyed Waterworld. I watch movies and decide for myself if they are good, thankfully I don't depend on "popular" opinion to decide what to watch. :) Glad to see there are other free thinkers here, as well!
All 3 of the movies I mentioned have their issues, it's true, but overall they are entertaining and original with some really good actors/actresses in them.
Its budget is also nowhere near as high as that of John Carter. (John Carter was actually a solid film though.) But we’ll see how this one turns out... the interest doesn’t seem to be there.
shareLooks like it is. John Carter + Jupiter Ascending vibes.
shareIt only got a 100 million budget, so it should break even easily.
shareI thought the same thing....and I do remember that in all of the Barsoom books there were no traveling cities :)
