A Remake of the bollywood (indian) movie from 2005

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451803/
Its a remake of the 2005 indian blockbuster starring the superstar from India Salman Khan. If you watch this movie you'll come to know that it is a scene to scene copy of the original leaving the dance songs aside. I think if they wanted to copy any movie they should have at least acknowledged it. Don't expect that from stars like Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler.
6 people have been credited for the screenplay, wonder if the production team knew about this.

Indians might have copied cactus flower...without acknowledging it.

I didn't know about Cactus Flower but just saw it, I think the main plot is the same in it as well as the indian movie but if you see the indian movie and just go with it side by side you can actually see the scene to scene copy of it. Ypu have to see it, although I don't argue with the fact that as you said both the movies use the mail plot from Cactus flower

reply

To add to this.. The filmmakers openly acknowledged that it was based on Cactus Flower and the prior plays to that in the credits. They also give writing credits to those prior writers. They aren't hiding this fact at all.

The Indian film copied the same people and didn't give any credit at all. So if this is a scene-for-scene remake then at very worst the two films are even in ripping someone off and not giving credit.

reply

Indians pretty much copy everything that other countries produce, especially Hollywood and they don't even bother to acknowledge it and give credit where due. So its mighty hilarious when an Indian comes out saying Hollywood copied some Bollywood film.

Bollywood can't deliver anything original. They are masters of copycat.

reply

And in 2013 the "fake children" concept was borrowed for WE'RE THE MILLERS, ALSO with Jennifer Aniston, but a different story line than CACTUS FLOWER. Sort of.

reply

Bollywood never gives credits that's why 90% of the Indian's think that movies like 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya' is original. The reality is nothing in Bollywood is original nothing. Everything is stolen not even copied cos they never give credits. Adam Sandler gave credits to the original. FYI i am an Indian....

No. It isn't. Not even close.

Bollywood films are almost never original, they are all copies. And they don't give credit to the originals.

Lol the two movies have very little in common. If you are stretching it that far, you might as well say all stories are derivative.

yes i'm sure Dennis Dugan just randomly came across this Salman Khan guy's Indian blockbuster while he was channel surfing.....yeh no, everyone knows that "bollywood" likes to "borrow" from other movies and then pass it as their own original idea in india.

Sorry Sir, You information is incorrect, This Movie is remake of "Cactus Flower" released in 1969, and Indian Movie Directed by David Dhawan, "Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (2005) was unofficial Copy of another Indian Movie, Starring Anupam Kher, "Dil Ka Doctor" which was again unofficial remake of the Original.

reply

Which leads us to the fact that Bollywood is a mess of unacknowledging copycats. For an industry that produces a ton of movies every year, its no surprise that originality runs out.

Well to put it straight hollywood itself does accept of taking 'creative inspiration' from cinemas. So,its quite ironic for hollywoodas to make a fuss. Baing siad that its Sad but true to say that bollywood does tha same but never bothers to give due credits to the original source.
the worst case i saw was that of B'wood director A Muragadas copying an ingenious movie Memento and turning into brainless crappy entertainer Ghajini, while boasting at the same his credentials of smartly copying H'wood films and turning them into blockbusters.
