Only 7.1??!!!!

I'm well aware that this is one of the most polarizing films to be released in the last few years and that it's very much a marmite (Love it or hate it) type of film. However, it deserves more than a 7.1 rating. Even those who didn't like the plot can't ignore two of the film's greatest strengths. The 70mm format makes the film look gorgeous and the acting from the three main cast members (Phoenix, Hoffman and Adams) is undeniably phenomenal.

those who "dont like the plot" know nothing about cult study and were trying to watch this as a popcorn movie. And yes, this is a very underrated movie, it's on the top of my PTA movie list.

I agree with you! This movie is another masterpiece by PTA. The most underrated director of all time. I was hooked to this movie from start to finish.

Paul Thomas Anderson must be god ?!

I saw this in 70mm too…and I hate this movie so much that I don't ever want to see a PT Anderson film ever again, or anything with Joaquin Phoenix or Amy Adams in it either. I felt not only that I was wasting my life watching this, but that it was making my life worse for having sat though it. To describe this as pretentious is far too much an understatement. I think it is an example of what can happen when a talented director receives too much praise that he thinks he can do no wrong.

Nobody gonna sleep here
