ricky laughs too much

The predictability of the animation is kind of a put off, the storys are a tiny bit interesting but the add on parts can be guessed before the animation plays it out, and ricky gervais need to laugh at everything is said, to make it come across as funnier than it is gets a little old after awhile, so the once contagious laugh becomes....

...'Okay calm down, don't mess yourself'.

Captain Jack:. ‘....Savy’

I dont think i could sit across a table from karl have him talk the *beep* he does and not burst out laughing. There are 2 kinds of laughs, real and fake. I dont think Ricky has to laugh to sell the show. Karl helps with that one lol

reply

Gervais isn't "breaking character" when he laughs.

Whether the show is all scripted or all real or something in between is irrelevant. If Ricky (and Steven) didn't laugh at many of Karl's incredulous statements then this would be artificial.

I love to hear Ricky's laugh :)

reply

I like his laugh.

It's funny :D

reply

Whaaaaaaaaat?! Ricky has the greatest laugh ever! Always makes me smile.

May the odds be ever in your favor

reply

I am shocked at the amount of people that actually enjoy his laugh. Fame or not it is damn irritating. Most be a brittish taste thing like eel pie or blood pudding

reply

Well his laugh is kind of like saying that he respects Karl and he really likes him, bit like showing a weakness. Also because he is fat he comes off as kind non threatening and not too powerful compared to Karl. I think that is the reason for having this other tread here called "My guess is that Stephen is an *beep* but Ricky actually Likes Karl..."

reply

Ricky's laughs are genuine all the way through.

Unfortunately, though, Stephen's laughs aren't all real. He doesn't really laugh often, and I hate it when people fake it. I catch people on that incredibly easy (can't stand D.Letterman, f.i.) So I wish he quit that. I think he sometimes felt obliged to laugh a bit, but one doesn't have to.

One episode i actually started laughing as soon as Stephen starts laughing, and it's the "Mr Dilkington" reveal.

When Stephen is reading Karl's diary and he starts giggling and says "This is good...", and then of course Ricky starts absolutely killing himself with laughter. A brilliant part of the episode.

reply

Yeah, but it's the high-pitched "ha ha ha"'s he does right after saying Dilkington. He laughs genuinely before that. I don't know why I'm being so picky about it, but I just hate fake laughter so much. :D

reply

It might be a laugh track of sorts but its genuine laughter because he finds Karl so funny. Personally I think Ricky's laugh is hilarious. Makes the show for me.
