ricky laughs too much

The predictability of the animation is kind of a put off, the storys are a tiny bit interesting but the add on parts can be guessed before the animation plays it out, and ricky gervais need to laugh at everything is said, to make it come across as funnier than it is gets a little old after awhile, so the once contagious laugh becomes....

...'Okay calm down, don't mess yourself'.

Captain Jack:. ‘....Savy’

reply

He laughs because the drivel that comes out of karls mouth is funny. Simple as that really.

Don't believe the hype!

reply

Sooooooo...don't watch it. Simple, really.

"My brain rebelled, and insisted on applying logic where it was not welcome."

reply

I've watch all 13 episodes twice and i still end up laughing at Ricky's continuous laughter.

reply

I laugh like a maniac everytime Karl opens his mouth. The 3 of them together are comic genius. I assure you, Ricky loves the round-headed one. His laughter is completely genuine.

The Boys is back in town!

reply

I cannot drink anything while watching the show as I will surely spit it out. I laugh at pretty much everything Karl says. So basically I laugh for 20 minutes straight. I would love to have had more of the three of them. Are there podcasts that just aren't cartoons?

Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.

reply

Yes, there are a few podcast series and then multiple seasons of the their radio show that was on XFM in England. Search "Ricky Gervais Show Podcast" and "Ricky Gervais Show XFM".

reply

Gervais laughs because Karl is funny. Why is that so difficult to understand? You're not Karl Pilkington are you?

reply

Even the brightest sometimes come off like Karl when they can't vocalize their toughts properly. Once in the 'frog' episode I laughed at the exact time and length that Gevais did. That makes me awesome, right? I do like Karl and his thoughts!

reply

I came up with a really stupid idea about Ricky's laugh in the animated series...

His laugh in the context of this animated show plays as a laugh track. When he laughs, it works as punctuation to the ridiculous, apropos-of-nothing sort of dialogue Karl espouses.

Thus, he's a one-man laugh track. Obviously, what Karl says is ridiculous and funny on itself, but Ricky functions as the vocal invisible audience member for the viewer. He also works as the "sane" voice in the otherwise formless narrative that Karl provides.

So, there's that happening...

reply

I agree, his forced laughter is annoying...but I only watched two episodes so maybe it's gotten better lately.

reply

When Ricky laughs I laugh more.

reply

Rickys laugh is great "YOUUUURRREEE MAAAAAAAAAAADD KARL!!" lol even thinking about it has got me chuckling.
Cant wait to see season 2 of this show i luv it.
Also can't wait til An Idiot Abroad gets a proper DVD release here in the United States.

reply

I think his laughter makes it better because Karl says some of the most inane things so flatly, and Merchant laughs just as often, but Ricky's laugh is so boisterous it's hard not to ignore. Not that I wouldn't laugh if Ricky wasn't...it just punctuates the best parts of a madman's ramblings. It's a good mix. :) "Stop talking S***."

reply

It's not forced laughter you mong. You don't know what you're talking about idiot.

reply

How is it forced? I laugh at everything for as long as he does and it is not forced. Unfortunately, I laugh like a female version of Ricky and I anger many whenever I watch it. I don't know how people control their laughter. Karl is one of the most unique people I ever heard.

Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.

reply

The laughter is 100% appropriate and honest. It's not the same thing as, say, when Jimmy Fallon laughs during an SNL sketch.

I find myself laughing basically in unison with Gervais. That's likely not a surprise, since I very much like his style of comedy (The Office, Extras, stand-up, interviews, movies, talk show appearances, awards show hosting).

reply

Hell yes. Golden Globes performance, I thought, was awesome.

reply

Zerobeat said it right ... how people can say that is put on the laugh is beoynd me . i laugh more when he laughs.

reply

Ricky has a incredibly infectous laugh. Watch this without laughing:

yeah, he does..
While the first season was great, it's getting worse and worse every time now.
I even had to turn the volume down a bit on s02e08 because of his annoying laughs. And 70% of the stuff Karl says is not even that funny.
Shame really, it used to be a great show..

reply

I never knew there were so many GD crybabies in the world until I started reading IMDB message boards. Now a comedian laughs to much on a show from a fugging PODCAST now ??? Be real man. The diaper-wearing douchebags that think he "laughs too much"..... breathe too much. Fuggin' die already. Or at least get your diapers changed.

reply

saying this you're definitely one of them, HAHA! So what is your point again?

reply

Nice comeback. A 3rd grader could do better than that. And saying you watch a TV show that you have to turn the volume down on? That's pretty f'n retarded. Get real.

reply

Morf just because you dont understand or see the humour in something doesnt mean it isn't funny.
