No idea if Alicia Silverstone plays a vampire or not, but I haven't seen a good looking vampire since "Interview with the vampire". I miss the days of vampires not being a mockery, and when they were either psychotic or miserable. Although there have been other fun vampire movies since IWTV, I really can't stand what they have become. Here's hoping this movie is fun, and not stupid.
Please interview with a vampire sucked. It's so depressing I still can't watch it all. If they hated themselves so much why not die. ANyway. You need to watch more. Any true blood. Sanctuary's Nikola Tesla can't remember the actor. Suck, Any Buffy/Angel, Moonlight. Tales from the crypt bordello of blood. There are so many hot vampires these days. And why do you want them to be miserable. I mean lost Boys proved that Vampires are fun people. Lost Boys Hot vampires in Lost Boys
Well it depends all on what you see in vampires - according to Western European myth a vampire is the eternal seducer, isn't he/she? Thus, that's what you get in mainstream vampire movies or TV-series. I think one of the hottest TV vampires are Spike, Angel and Damon - all of them also having a vampiric nature not only of seducing but ALSO of reckless killing.
Then, you have not such beautiful vampires as in Daybreakers, Stakeland or Priest or - in the older films of - Subspecies.
I guess there are sooo many vampire movies around, everyone can find his or her favorite vampire movie. It's a bit of a shame that this genre is exploited so much presently, but every now and then, I still find a little gem such as this movie "Vamps", which I found hilarious as it also referenced a lot of vampire themes and movies.
And then, of course, there's always Alice Cooper ;-) (just watch Suck or Dark Shadows - he looks like a real vampire imho).
The first Subspecies was interesting in that there was both an Orlock-type (Radu) as well as a proto-Angel/Edward/Stefan type, his half-brother Stefan.
Except that Vampires aren't supposed to be sexy... They are supposed to smooth and classy, Bram Stoker's was like that, and personally, no Vampire should ever be different from the Stoker.... These Twilight Vamps are a mockery and makes for a horrible movie and book. However, i will say that Angel/Buffy was a great series and i still watch it occasionally.
I'd prefer if vampires did go back to being ugly monsters, like in their old folk lore. The ones in 30 Days of Night are the only ones I've enjoyed recently.
Even if the vampire characters in this film were ugly (wich they are not, more than obviously), vampires used to be properly ugly, scary, hideous and gruesome. Awful creatures of the night that could only get out in the dark and use their powers to hypnotize humans to feed on them, instead of their awesome good looks and charms.
