Are all Vampires ugly these days?

No idea if Alicia Silverstone plays a vampire or not, but I haven't seen a good looking vampire since "Interview with the vampire".
I miss the days of vampires not being a mockery, and when they were either psychotic or miserable.
Although there have been other fun vampire movies since IWTV, I really can't stand what they have become.
Here's hoping this movie is fun, and not stupid.

reply

Well if Alicia is a vampire in this, obviously she's far from ugly. And in what way are Julie Benz, Mercedes McNab, David Boreanaz, and James Marsters ugly? Also Ethan Hawke in Daybreakers.

reply

Totally agree with you, above all with Angel, who's my fav male vampire ever <3. I'd also like to add Kate Beckinsale as Selene (Underworld saga) and Alexander Skarsgard as Eric (True Blood) to that "major vampire hotties" list.

There is also Alex O'Loughlin who is now in Hawaii Five-0. He was in Moonlight. I live in Hawaii and saw him a few months ago...hot!

OP,

have you actually watched anything with vampires since "Interview"? If so, you may need to get your eyes checked.

Yeah I have, although a specific example for me to check out would have been nice, as opposed to just being a smartass.

Also, your definition of a vampire and mine may be different, the whole point of this topic was for people to bring examples to prove me wrong lol.

By the way, in some circles, Vamp means bisexual.

reply

Didn't have to...the examples are already listed in the other posts above.

Gee...I guess I better change my screen name or start swinging both ways...right?

List of great Vampire movies since Interview (not necessarily sexy):

Thirst
Trouble Every Day
Cronos
Shadow of the Vampire
Let the Right One In
Guy Maddin's brilliant 'Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary'

also the "Kill Switch" episode of X-Files is awesome ...

reply

Cronos came out before Interview.

reply

You're right. But it's still an awesome movie.

reply

Good list. But while Kill Switch is a fun episode, it is not about vampires. "Bad Blood "(5X12) and "3" (3X7) are however.

Actually VAMPS76 wasn't being a smart-ass - his comment was dependent on the many examples everyone else gave of attractive vampires. I believe the situation is the other way around -
meaning, that a vast majority of vampires are attractive -- the rare treat is one that is unattractive.

i believe the circles you've found yourself in have been misappropriating the word 'Vamp' -- is this amongst friends that don't know the meaning of the word? You said in some circles it means 'bi-sexual'--
having looked it up i found a handful of definitions and not one was what you spoke of. i would like to suggest some brighter circles for you.

VAMP
1. Seductive Woman, a woman who uses her sexual attractiveness for the seduction and manipulation of others; Seduce somebody by Sex or appearing to, teazing.

2. A femme fatale character in movies or books. The character is a woman who, while not necessarily attractive, has a certain allure (usually this striking, exotic, overtly sexy glamour), and is usually a heartless, man-eating seductress.

3. A beautiful and seductive woman who uses her sensuality to entrap and exploit men.

4. Verb: the act of leaving an area or scene, often due to not wanting to be there any longer, but not in all cases. Other forms of the word: vamped, vamping

The only example of 'Vamp' meaning bi-sexual is within the video game Metal Gear : Solid 2 where the bisexual character IS named Vamp and has Vampiric characteristics.

All vampires these days are usually hot. The last time I saw an ugly vampire was Gary Oldman as Dracula.

reply

Oh shush...Gary Oldman is a god and was gorgeous even as a vampire.

Lo and behold things are killing me

We can't forget Evan Rachel Wood from True Blood....

It might be easier to just name an ugly vampire....besides Gary Oldman.

What? If anything, Vampires have been getting turned into sex symbol like, angst machines, and amany are crying for ugly (or at least a Vampire that doesn't get a million screaming teenagers crammed in your theater), feirce Vampires as they "should be". I suppous they sure are becoming a mockery, just something to cater almost exclusively to getting the audience to wet themselves (and not in the fear-induced way).

Are you sure you don't mean that your waiting for another great Vampire movie that is'nt a complete mockery of Vampires? Because whenever I see some sort of Vampire nowadays, they're always of the tall, sexy, and pale variety (though I suppous taste varies, they do pick people thought to be universally appealing).

reply

That's why I enjoy plaing an RPG called Vampire: The Masquerade. Wish there would be a good movie made of it (there was a TV series once, but it was really bad). Vamps there can be brutal, primal beasts or eloquent businessmen but always driven by a sence of loss and pain. And they are all the progeny of Cain - the original sinner. Nothing like this mockery in Twilight. We should remember that vampires originated from legends based on human fear of death and not some Romeo-and-Juliette-like romance novel.

reply

Let's not forget the horde of vampires in the Twilight movies . . . while a lot of criticism could be leveled at them, being ugly isn't on the list.

reply

I havent seen an ugly vampire since I saw Hillary Swank playing Riley in Twilight: Eclipse.

reply

Jessica Pare in Suck ,then again i'm not a great fan of vampire movies as VERY few are original or different ,but the "vampires" in twilight should not be counted as vampires do NOT sparkle ,just like werewolves should not "be more feline"......oh wait ...that ass of a director from underworld did that already......

Don't scare me....i poop easily

reply

Deborah Anne Woll in True Blood ...one red headed acting geek that comes off very sexy and tall too . ;o)

At least these don't sparkle!
