Can we all agree the, "You have to see this on the BIGGEST screen!" hype was nothing more than PR?

Keep in mind that I like the movie. But let's be serious, most of this movie is people just talking to each other, and no "IMAX experience" is going to change that. In my opinion, the "watch it on the biggest screen" hype as a marketing gimmick to make people thing the A-bomb explosion stuff as going to be a much bigger part of the movie than it ended up being.

For someone like you, the screen size probably doesn't matter. For someone who cares about film, seeing this in 70mm increased the impact and enjoyment immeasurably.

really.
I watch most everything I can in IMAX. Some deserve it, some don't benefit at all.

Can you tell us which scene was especially better becuase it was shown in IMAX?
This was a talky docudrama that will work jsut fine on a phone as well as the big screen. Certainly nothing here needed to be imax. Even the bomb explosions were meh

I fell for it

No. Saw it in true IMAX and it was incredible.

Looking forward to seeing it on IMAX again! 😁 And in true IMAX on 70mm, for that matter. Nothing special? Hmm.

Favorite IMAX experience this year still remains John Wick 4, though. Damn, need a re-release of it πŸ”₯

Yes...The PR should have read, "You've never seen government offices look this good!"

I didn't think it was a big-screen film

for what it's worth I felt slightly cheated. the trailers had snapshots of atoms and swirly things. they didn't integrate these into the film tho, they were just abstract snapshots of swirly things

The way they advertised it, it seemed like it was gonna be mostly about the building of the bomb. Turns out it was 90% a commie witch hunt and 10% manhattan project. You're right, there's nothing imax about it. Remember the viral ad about how nolan used a real explosion or whatever bullsh to make the bomb explosion look more real blah blah? This thing was a massive scam and it annoys me beyond belief that it's almost breaking 1b at the box office. 2023 is full of scams.
