Rated R.

It's neat to see they went with an R rating. I can't imagine many kids would want to see it anyway.

reply

Well, that puts the final nail in the coffin of the idea of it beating Barbie.

reply

Interesting. Probably going to be very graphic with the atomic bombs dropping on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

reply

It's rated R for sexuality, nudity, and lanugage. No mention of graphic violence in the rating.

reply

Well that's weird. For Christopher Nolan anyway.

reply

Honestly surprised it's rated R and no mention of disturbing/violent content in the rating. Sounds like it's mostly sex/language that got it's R rating.

reply

yeap, Oppenheimer and Matt Damon sex scene, who would of thought?

reply

Is the sex and nudity between a man and a woman, or two (or more) men?

reply

I figured he might go for the R rating on this one. First R rated film by Nolan in over 2 decades. I sure hope this one is better than Dunkirk and Tenet. I know the guy is a great director he just kind of dropped the ball on the last two, they weren't bad just underwhelming.

reply

Dude's been dropping the ball for well over a decade. His last upper tier film was Inception - it was all downhill from there.

reply

Naw, his last great film was Interstellar. I didn't hate Dunkirk and Tenet they just weren't what Nolan is capable of.

reply

I've pretty much hated Interstellar since I watched it in theaters, and I liked Jonathan Nolan's original script (which was unfortunately changed a lot).

It's a ridiculous film filled with cringe and pretentiousness, and the "they didn't choose me they choose her... for what, Cooper? ... to save the world!!" ending is an eye-rolling extravaganza.

At the end it tries to frame Cooper blindly going out into space at sub-light speeds to find Brand, who could literally be a billion galaxies away, as this dramatic(!!) thing... when it's just painfully dumb. And that's kind of the whole movie in a nutshell: stupid shit framed in an overly dramatic way, with characters and situations I was not remotely convinced by.

Anyway, I understand you disagree and I'm not really interested in arguing about it. I do wonder how a filmmaker can go from something like The Prestige to Tenet though. His characters and drama used to have an actual impact and feel fairly organic, and now it's exactly the opposite. I do not have high hopes for Oppenheimer.

reply

You probably just need to watch interstellar again and actually pay attention, it’s brilliant and I think you are only saying you don’t like it because it was popular and you want to be different

reply

You probably need to read my post again and actually pay attention - I've disliked the movie since I saw it in theaters, literally the first days of release. I went in with nothing but high expectations after reading the original script long before.

It's utter dreck ("...in my opinion"). I've explained my position, and I could continue doing so if it wasn't a futile exercise.

reply

All of your complaints are answered in the film if you bothered to pay attention, I think you just decided you didn't want to like it so you went in looking for things to complain about. If you want to complain about a well liked film complain about Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, now that was a dumpster fire.

reply

Alright, I'm convinced you're quasi-trolling at this point so I'm not going to bother with an actual response (which I already made and you ignored).

reply

Why? Because my opinion is different than yours?

I mean I'm partially convinced you are trolling yourself. I didn't realize that to not be a troll you had to agree with you, rather narcissistic logic in my opinion but whatever.

reply

Because you keep making this stupid claim that I purposely wanted to dislike the film, or am disliking it to be a contrarian (*which doesn't even make sense because the film has been divisive since release), when I've repeatedly explained my position and the situation around my initial viewing.

"I didn't realize that to not be a troll you had to agree with you"

This statement is ironic, considering you're trying to label anyone who doesn't agree with your personal opinions on a film as a contrarian or acting in bad faith.

reply

I have done no such thing, I tried to engage honestly with you however you unfortunately were unable to do the same. The film was not "divisive", it was universally praised, you are in the very very very small minority, get over it.

reply

Right, which is why when I said I understood you disagreed and didn't want to argue about it, you started with these stupid trolly claims about me "wanting to be different" by disliking the film.

Dunkirk and The Last Crusade were "universally praised" - so the fact that you aren't bending over backwards liking those films must mean you're a contrarian and simply wanting to be different. This is a stupid discussion. Anything else you want to add before I bounce?

reply

Because you are only dissing Interstellar because you want to be different.

Oh so therefore you must concede then that Interstellar was universally praised by your second paragraph? Which is it?

reply

There has been these discussions about Interstellar and its heavy-handed cringy love themes, lame characters/dialogue, and garbage third act since its release. Because people saw it, just like I did, and recognized its heavy-handed cringy love themes, lame characters/dialogue, and garbage third act.

I was willing to agree to disagree, and you could have simply responded with actual points about the film. Instead you had to delve into stupid personal accusations as a trolly defense mechanism because you clearly got butthurt about my criticisms.

Anyway, you are only dissing Dunkirk and The Last Crusade because you want to be different.

reply

Sounds promising. I hope its just not the language, this better be a movie for adults. Based on The Prestige, I'm sure Nolan is capable of directing straightforward historical drama and be great at it.
