Why not send the drone downwards?

Use the rope or their shoelaces to tie their phone to the drone. Then send the drone downwards to get a signal. No need to navigate far away to the diner

But seriously - that was solution right there. Why would she send drone to diner when she could done that.....

Hmm. I think they didn’t have the drone at first (it was inside the backpack that fell down on the antennas). And then they needed the one remaining phone to control the drone.

The moment they thought of sendign the phone down in the shoe i thought doing it with a drone would be far better option, but alas that never came to their minds.
