Just saw an early screening

It starts off really well but the pacing gets very strange in the third act, like Denis sat on the remote and hit the fast-forward button. The first 2 hours have a lot of breathing room but the film suddenly starts rapid cutting from location to location and stuff gets really confusing. Characters start teleporting from planet to planet, there are at like 7 or 8 moments where I had to think to myself "okay, what the fuck is going on?" and I never thought that a single time during the first 2 hours. The film just ends too without a solid resolution. Even Lynch got the ending better. That fight scene in black and white is the best part of the movie. Lots of individual scenes work very well and the action is great, but it's just that third act that spoils it. 6/10

Characters teleporting from planet to planet? Was it depicting the various Houses coming to Dune to get their share of the pie after the Guild greatly lowered travel rates?

Dune (1965) ended with Paul telling Chani and Jessica to bargain for the princess' dowry; the Emperor was to be completely stripped. Paul never reached his end goal in Dune, even that had to wait for his eventual failure in Dune Messiah.

The ending of the 1984 version was crap. It skipped ahead another couple of books to where it stared raining on Dune.

Do you want to see boring, confusing travel across the stars? It is not shown, but quite clear that months pass, so why should it not be possible for them to travel in the time between? You really want to see that? I definitely preferred that they cut that parts down.
