This season is really, REALLY bad

I actually forgot that TWD was coming on last night (up til season 7 I’ve never done that). So I TRIED to watch the encore showing after the talking dead went off. It was so hard to make it through the episode. I really dislike the Alpha character. Some things they should just leave in the comics universe. Alpha and the whispers doesn’t translate well to tv IMO.

I feel like this season would be okay if the story moved along faster. The first three episodes could easily have been condensed into one. There is a ton of pointless filler.

I agree

I take back where I said the first three episodes could easily have been condensed into one. I should have said that the first four episodes could easily have been condensed into one. Last night's was the most dragged out episode so far this season.

reply

Hopefully we won’t be saying this whole season could have been condensed into 2 episodes!

reply

Pointless filler is 90% of this show, and has been for a long time.

reply

So true. The plots just drag on and on. These 16 episode shows should (and could) be condensed to 12 episodes. Get rid of mid season finale crap.

No seasons could ever be worse than seasons 7 & 8..
It improved last season and this season is still an improvement over those.... if I could give a crap.
They've killed nearly everyone off and it's still the same old "life finally gets good and yet another group of psychopaths comes along to ruin what's left of their world".

I don't care for Alpha either. She makes my skin crawl.
I guess we have to think of this group as a brainwashed cult because it's hard to fathom why anyone would follow this bloated nutbag with her psycho cruelties and her nonsensical philosophies.
And such a grand life she offers her followers!!

I actually like Alpha. I think she is entertaining. But it is not realistic at all that people would follow her. I could see if they had no other way to survive, but where they encounter a group who has food, running water, medicine, etc. it makes no sense that they would choose to stay with Alpha.

Well there was dialogue between Alpha and Beta about how their pack has now seen the successful communities that have nice amenities and food/water. I don’t remember it word for word, but he brought up how since now the pack realizes that there are people living like actual people, that Alpha will have to act quickly to demonstrate why the pack should continue following her and her lifestyle. Which I think means that she must destroy their communities/show how weak and inferior they are before the pack has the time to think about how there are relatively good people living behind walls with a much higher quality of life, while the pack lives a pretty insane and grueling lifestyle.
Lydia has mentioned earlier to Henry that Alpha said that places like their communities couldn’t exist, so I would assume that the pack follows her because they believe that living like the communities do is impossible/unsustainable and will lead to everyone living in them dying.

The show is just so boring.....I'll admit season 9 and 10 (so far) have been an improvement over 7 and 8 which were absolute trash, so it's not too surprising that the following seasons have been an improvement.

The show doesn't have enough story to fill 16 episodes....I think 10 episodes is more than enough, especially if you are going with a basic us vs them and pretty much every episode's "PLOT DESCRIPTION" is the group continue to survive in a dangerous world...that's even more dangerous now that a mysterious enemy is sorta, gonna, eventually attack and kill one sort of significant character, despite the main group killing off countless Whisperers now.....

It's actually embarrassing this show is still going....The characters haven't been interesting since...I can't even remember when I actually cared about any of these people. They all pretty much go through the same cycle of character arc...start off as a pacifist, experience tragedy, become cold blooded killer, find some spark of hope and then back to pacifist, etc.

Also, how dumb is it that Negan is still alive??? Realistically, someone would have just put a bullet in his brain. Could you imagine if the group showed the same mercy to Gareth's group or Joe's group?

reply

It really is dragging along. Episode 2 wasn't even needed, just filler

reply

ditto

reply

Still not as bad as season 8.

reply

Thanks for reminding me of that travesty. I tried to forget season 8 ever happened. 😂
