Is he involved in the series anymore? His comic is awesome, but everything in the tv-series that make you wanna facepalm yourself with a bat multiple times isn't in the comics. Has he let go of this sinking battleship?

He is an EP, but he doesn't have creative control.

Robert Kirkman is just one of a group of Executive Producers. As I understand it others - like Glen Mazzara and Gale Anne Hurd - have more to do with approving the final scripts, occasionally consulting with Kirkman. He doesn't have the final say on anything though.
