That was just idiotic. Beyond nonsensical. She, along with Darryl and even Jesus are going to do a 180 and become people they've never been? They're the new evil threat Rick will have to contend with? That was so far beyond pathetic I don't know what to call it. These writers really are the worst.
It doesn't even make sense on a practical level. If all they are upset about is Rick not killing Negan, all they have to do is wait for an opportunity and take the fucker out. Instead they decide to form a clandestine faction within the group to bide their time and overthrow Rick? Seems like a lot of effort for such a small and easily solvable grievance. It comes off as more that these people now have too much time on their hands. They should form a book club instead.
It's almost as if they wanted to make a point that peace doesn't last and threats will always exist. Even if that was their intent, they failed terribly. To create this vendetra among close friends, over something easily fixed, like you said, was a desperate, and failed, attempt to create drama. Kind of like that horribly directed scene when psycho Morgan saw the ex-saviors coming back and almost hit the little kid with the stick. The acting and music in that scene was meant to create and build dramatic tension, but is was cheesy and cringeworthy instead.
Agreed. The theme of 'peace doesn't last and threats will always exist' is beating a dead horse at this point. We get it. The problem with this show is that there is no plot progression. No goals. Everything just goes round and round in circles. And Morgan is such a manic character, yet the first ep of season 4 of FTWD is all about him after leaving the junkyard because Rick and co won't leave him alone. So double fail. Same writers so I'm not surprised.
To me, I wonder if they are referring to actually attacking Rick or just that they'll do something to Negan themselves at a later time.
I never bought it though, being upset about Negan. If you are that upset just go kill him. He was laying in the field with his throat cut, go finish him off if you want. Rick may have objected but if Daryl and Jesus and Maggie wanted to make sure he was dead than just go kill him.
What I found incredulous about the "Maggie the Godfather" scene was not that she wants to kill Negan and will conspire against Rick to do so...it's that Daryl and Jesus seemed so gung-ho to help her. Daryl maybe, but we just saw Jesus reasoning with Morgan why he shouldn't kill people, and now here he is being all set to help Maggie go against Rick to kill Negan with no thought of mercy at all. Like so much else on this show now, the motivations of the characters seem to change on a whim.
And really...Maggie doesn't have a problem with Darryl who mouthed off and GOT Glenn killed? Noe I'm hoping they do a time jump next season and we just see that these three grew up and got over it.
They may do even more than a time jump... If it happens that the pilot Lauren Cohan shot gets picked up for a series, they may just end up killing off Maggie, or at least send her into Morgan-like exile or something.
I feel like the way the scene was shot and directed were the issue. It was purposely done like that to get fans talking and speculating, but ultimately it will just be them and maybe a few other characters trying to get to Negan and killing him but it likely won't happen due to the threat from The Whisperers.
When I was watching that scene, I was shocked to at the thought of them basically becoming the new baddies but I highly doubt it will go that way. It will just be a small civil dispute because there are audience members that watch the show that want Negan dead and likely don't agree with Rick (so it's a way to get us to struggle with deciding who is in the right, even though Rick ultimately is). I think this is a good way to bring back some drama that effects our group on a smaller scale.

That's exactly what it was. It would be beyond ridiculous to have the 3 of them as antagonists. I refuse to believe the writers would sink that low.
The only problem is that, they said negan would revive the show. And it was shit. His first appearance being the exception. Now it's the Whisperers. Which from what I've read is an interesting and different group, but I just no longer have any faith on this show.
