Eugene was in such need of validation, and the feeling of importance, that when Negan gave him responsibilities and a certain amount of authority, Eugene got totally sucked in.
When someone (Sasha?) wakes him up to the fact that Negan is a totally, thoroughly despicable creature who, incidentally, killed Eugene's friend Abraham, Eugene will have an epiphany and kill Negan.
As Eugene is a character created for the TV show, I'm actually kind of curious what he's going to eventually going to wind up doing and how it will effect the plot. By no means, though, do I think he's going to be responsible for Negan's death, which I don't think is going to happen for quite a while (if they stick to their tracing of the comic's plotline).
shareI think that Eugene is just playing the saviors, but in no way will he be responsible for the downfall of Negan. And I don't think anything like that will be happening until the end of season 8.
