7 years of this...really?
I don't see the appeal dudes.
I don't see the appeal.
Well actually it has only been about 2 years since the outbreak in-universe... ;)
shareSo how much Carl has died so much.
shareGasoline degrades and ceases to be combustible enough to run an engine after a year. This is why in mad max they make sure to explain there are still refineries. This show is very stupid.
shareWell that's why TWD's latest season only puts it within only a couple years since the outbreak, and not 7 years like so many think incorrectly that 1 year = 1 season....
sharewe all know this Ben, been spoken of many times
shareAnd nobody is maintaining the nuclear power plants. Major meltdowns worldwide.
shareThe first season was enjoyable (even if the finale was very underwhelming) however since then the show has been (for the most part) a borefest. Sure there are a few decent episodes per season, but that's about it and to be honest I haven't seen any decent episodes this season...
shareThe first season was really good and got me hooked. But then they decided to change the director and it showed. By the middle of the second season I got bored and gave up on watching... especially because they started mentioning "God" a lot mid 2nd season (I wonder if anyone else noticed that). It just wasn't my cup of tea anymore.
shareYeah, the change in direction really hurt the show. It went from being a horror show into a drama with zombies. As for the added references to God- that is what would probably happen. I have spoken to Holocaust survivors and they have told me that if it weren't for their belief in God that they would not have made it out of the camps. Also, much of my family consists of retired army personnel (I am not one of them) who had the misfortune of participating in wars. They have all pretty much told me that there are no atheists in the foxhole. People who came into the service who were big and strong and only believed in themselves even broke down when confronted by the face of death. I am not condemning you if you don't believe in God, but just to consider how much easier it is to have that attitude while you sit at home, watch television, go to work, exercise, party and be like "yeah screw God, he doesn't exist." than it would be to have that attitude in a war zone, a concentration camp, a children's cancer ward, a hospice or even a zombie apocalypse. Just food for thought.
shareYou're probably right about the God talk, but it just seemed forced to me in the context of the show. The series Fear the Walking Dead did the same thing, but they did it the smart way... they had a few designated characters that were believers. So, it didn't seem forced.
I like your description "drama with zombies". I am watching Fear the Walking Dead now, and so far it's still more about zombies and less about drama, and I like it this way. We'll see how it goes in the future...
I don't actually remember the characters speaking of God past "Lori"? I can't recall any recent talk of it.
shareIt started a few episodes into 2nd season. I'm an atheist, so I notice things like that. I don't need that kind of brainwashing in my life so I stopped watching. If you don't remember it happening recently, that means it didn't last beyond season 2. Anyway, they lost one viewer with that kind of talk.
shareMost people believe in a God or Supreme Being so it wouldn't be realistic not to mention God especially in that part of the country and during an Apocalypse. Father Gabriel joined the show a few seasons ago and I remember Hershel and his family were religious.
shareI don't think the religious talk is excessive and as you say, I'm sure some of them would need God in the circumstances! Other than Father Gabriel, I don't think they've mentioned God at all this season.. that said, I'm really not a fan of the Father Gabriel character.
shareI don't mind mentioning God. There's a fine difference between mentioning God and preaching, and 2nd season of this show crossed that line. As I said before, they also mention God in Fear the walking dead, but it doesn't feel forced there. I stopped watching TWD cause it started to feel like those "Left behind" movies.
