Going to Underperform
These sort of "meme" movies don't translate to box office numbers. It's also not clear who the exact audience for this movie is either. Little girls or a meta satirical take on Barbie?

shareThe only people I've seen commenting about it are the Rainbow Mafia and attention seekers.
I have no idea who this movie is trying to target. Apparently there is some sort of "men are sexist" subplot going on but this movie will be dead in the water if it even remotely tries to touch current day woke politics.
Based on what I've gathered to they've turned Ken into a typical dumb white guy as well. Will Ferrell is apparently also playing the exact type of character he did in The Lego Movie
shareYeah I'm not sure I understand it, but the full trailer will likely reveal the gist of the film (and the entire plot threads of the whole film if current day trailers are anything to go by).
shareThe plot is basically about Barbie getting exiled from Barbieland for not following the rules so her and Ken go to the real world that's full of sexism and beauty standards and the president of Matell has to travel there to get Barbie and Ken back.
shareWow.... is that actually the real plot?
shareShould had gone hardcore grim-dark and make it like 'Beyond the Valley of the Dolls' or something wild.
shareI am very curious to see how this one does. There is a lot of enthusiasm for it online, and people are excited because the director made good movies before - but at the same time, isn't the title being "Barbie" alienating for 50% of the population? Like I can not myself going to the cinema to buy tickets to see the Barbie movie and I don't think I'm alone with that.
