Moviechat legend Steve Allaby produced this.
Where is his Oscar?
shareThat’s really sad actually, this is one of the worst “movies” ever made
shareHow dare you!? Mr Allaby is a legend and this film is testament to his taste in cinema.
shareI'm one of several associate producers. I didn't have control or influence on the film. I just gave the director $200. I'm happy to help independent filmmakers (regardless of the quality of the final film).
shareDo you get to see any profits or was this like a Kickstarter thing?
shareIt was crowdfunding, similar to kickstarter, so none of the people who contributed got any profits.
shareDo you at least get a free copy?
shareIn this case, no. There are usually different levels and different rewards. With some films, you can get a physical copy or digital copy. Other times, depending on how much you contribute, there are options to have your picture in the film, meet a cast member, get a shirt or photo or some other merchandise. In this case, it was just the associate producer credit as the reward.
shareWell at least you can put it on your resume.
shareNot sad at all. Allaby is a top shelf user here who has credits of all kinds of movies.
shareNot surprising, considering the topic...
shareIt's a horror comedy and the director approached me on Facebook.
shareI'm going to make a movie in my basement, could you send me $200?
shareIf you were seriously making a film and posted the details on a legitimate crowdfunding web site and were offering something in exchange, I would consider it. I'm being completely sincere here. If you ever do make a film, I might be willing to help back it.
shareAre you saying MovieChat is not legitimate???
shareI don't consider Moviechat a crowdfunding website. This is probably the best crowdfunding website:
