shareyes, so disgusted
I never saw that coming maybe that is why it ended the way it did who knows at least it wasn't a huge cliffhanger .
sharemaybe that is why it ended the way it did
That sounds to me like they did realize the show might be ending, but were really holding out hope that it wouldn't, but just in case the writers wrapped things up the way they did. And really, that's not uncommon. HIMYM had that situation for several seasons.
shareSorry I have to disagree about the cliffhanger.
Since I read about the 6th season I was really looking forward to now I'm more than disappointed. It's really no way to deal with the fans first to announce a new season in October only to change the mind in January - another great series dead.
And they wonder people are not really interested in the crap they air when they cancel all the good stuff like Covert Affairs, White Collar, Rush and so on. Grrrrrrrrrr
Me either, so was doubly sad to see Perception cancelled, also....
shareGutted.... I had hoped that if they were going to cancel it that USA would give it a final few episodes to wrap things up like they did with White Collar. I hate when networks cancel shows with questions still looming.
shareNot too surprising given the steady decline in the ratings, plus personally I think the characters had gone off the boil in the last series especially. At least thanks to the finale the cancellation isn't too brutal as it feels almost like a natural place to stop.
I will still miss it though.
I didnt watch the show but if a show has been on for 4+ years they owe it to fans for at least an abbreviated season. A lot of show do that now where they get half a season to wrap up. I feel its the right way to do it. USA is pretty weak in its lineup right now anyways.
shareWhat's up with USA? First Psych, then White Collar, now this. It's like they're doing a purge of all their sunny sky shows. If they continue this way they either have to cancel Suits too or have it be the awkward relic of their past self among whatever type of new shows they decide to pour in after the purge.

To learn how to ruin a fine, popular TV show talk to Jeremy Carver or Russel T.Davies.
Seems USA is trying to go after the grittier, sexier shows aimed at the 18 to 48 age groups. As a women older than 55, I really resent networks forgetting that older Americans are and have a huge buying presence. I may not watch CA "live" because I'm either busy out or sleep early. (That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it with morning coffee.) Covert Affairs was great because it did travel abroad and had great vistas of foreign locations--yes, the writing was sketchy at times but forgiveable. Overall it was about relationships and the strong bonds formed between people who place their lives in danger to work for their country, including a strong, capable female heroine.
I will not watch a new USA show because as soon as I find something I might like it will bound to be cancelled.
I loved the show and thought the first half of the season was good, but after the break I just couldn't watch and felt disinterested in the story line. It was boring this overall arc that began with the station explosion. Would of liked it to be renewed or at least an ending but not overly surprised with the decision.
shareAs a women older than 55, I really resent networks forgetting that older Americans are and have a huge buying presence. The thing about older viewers (and that's also why Nielsen's has a 19-49 age range for their target audience) isn't the lack purchasing power but the lack of easy sway toward products in commercials. They know that at your age you won't run immediately to the next store to buy the shiny thing they just showed you on TV so they don't consider you their "target audience."
I may not watch CA "live" because I'm either busy out or sleep early. (That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it with morning coffee.)And that's another thing that makes you not their preferred viewer. They always want people who watch live because not watching live means you can skip the commercials.
Basically all TV executives care about is how many people watch the commercials and of those people, how many are likely to actually buy the products.
I was away this summer and never managed to get caught up, now I don't think I will. I'll pretend that the series wrapped itself with Annie shooting Henry in Hong Kong which actually had a decent series wrap up on its own.
They should have at least given a two-hour series wrap up. It was on for 5 seasons and they announce it on Twitter? What the hell USA?

What changes can be made if there is nothing left standing in the wake of rage?
Well at a least you all got an ending I mean on The Glades which has to be one of the worst cliffhangers ever there was not ending Jim was suppose to get married and than someone shoots him three times and he lies there dying and we never find out what happen to him that really really sucked .
And I could go on about other show ,but you get the idea of what I am saying .
Another show I liked cancelled . The Glades , now that was upsetting .
shareI loved the show, I think this show has legions of fans. The problem today is shows are solely dependent on ratings and cost to produce. With lower ratings, they don't get as much money in - and this show did not look inexpensive to produce. I don't think USA is upset with the content, quite the contrary. Often, I found this show on my DVR the next morning because it was usually on around 10 here on the east coast.
This show had obvious similarities with Alias. I stopped watching Alias when they started getting screwy with magic clocks and stuff. This show I continued to watch loyally.
I would agree with a previous poster that I think this season arc was a little below average. First, she's not in the CIA anymore. Second, she has a condition that makes her "human". Third, she ends up in a relationship with some millionaire contractor CEO and it just seemed to drag a little.
What was the core of the show??
1) Annie is CIA
2) Annie is sort of invincible, yet vulnerable - not weak.
3) Annie was mostly single and was every guy's dream date.
My guess is the ratings were going steadily down and they fired a hail mary to try and make the ratings go back up. Unfortunately, when people do that, they often alienate the most loyal fans.
Note to TV producers, from a die hard TV fan. Small adjustments like what they have done on Law and Order and Law and Order SVU (and even CSI) were changes like one character. Those shows have lasted forever. People tune in week in and week out to get their dose of crack. When you deviate from that too much, you are seriously destroying the very crack loyal viewers are trying to get their fix with.
How could you have helped CA?
1) don't give Annie a heart condition. It should have been anxiety which she could get past in a few episodes.
2) Didn't like her leaving the CIA. Instead, she could have worked with CIA contractors and met that dude and had a few dates. Instead, they are somehow the front and center of every episode.
3) They could have added a female counter part to Annie who had complementary skills.
I hate that it was cancelled without a proper ending - it was a great show (although the latest season wasn't the best) and could have at least had a final season.
USA used to have all the great series (Burn Notice, Psych, White Collar....) and I would pretty much watch most series they made just because it was from their network. Now almost all their best series have ended or been cancelled, and so far nothing as good has replaced those. I watch the series online so don't know everything they show, but it seems they will be losing lots of viewers unless they get some good new series (and not reality).
