what all you Chum haters are forgetting...

...is the fact that if something like this happened to someone YOU knew- a close friend, family member, coworker, head of whatever religious congregation you belong to- you'd be singing a VERY different tune. Specifically with phrases like "Innocent until proven guilty!!", "It's not fair how this story is getting overexposed in the 24 news cycle we have!", "That's NOT the person I know- something else is going on.". You'd ALSO be standing by that person, unless you're some kind of spineless coward that bails at the first sign of trouble.

Celebrities are targets, and people can make whatever allegation they want regardless of whether or not it's actually true. I was accused of sexual assault once by a woman I was briefly involved with (who was bitter because she got dumped), and it turned into this whole big thing with a couple different agencies involved (she was related to one of the LE personnel as I recall). In this particular instance, I was **literally** on the other side of the U.S. during the time frame the alleged incident happened, so of course all charges were dropped and the whole matter was hushed up. When it was suggested that SHE be arrested for filing a false police report, all of a sudden it was "Well, she's clinically depressed and wasn't really aware of the consequences of what she was doing and she didn't have a father growing up and blah blah blah".

The point being: I was innocent, proved it quite easily, but prior to that certain people were ready to have me shot by a firing squad and then dump my body in the nearest river.

Honestly, I think the sexual assault charge is BS. The guns & drugs I'm not so sure about, because fame also attracts wannabe posse/gangbanger types who ARE involved in that kind of lifestyle. If he's gotten mixed up in something he shouldn't, I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs. Everyone makes mistakes. EVERYONE. You losers who are elated over this need to take a good hard look in the mirror and figure out why your lives are so empty and meaningless that you somehow get joy from the misfortune of others.

I don't give a damn whether he's guilty or not, as long as this gets him off the show. He's every bit as appealing to watch/hear as Jar-Jar Binks was in that faraway galaxy. I always put the DVR on fast-forward during the dumb, scripted scenes, which almost always contain some stupid Chum subplot.

My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.

about time someone defended this guy
he is not the sharpest tool in the box but i find him entertaining in the show

That's what his celebrity attorney David Chesnoff said.

Trouble is, that defense is probably going to cost Russell $750+ an hour.

Huge respect for the post, SoForgetit, but Chumlee has sort of paved his own road, so to speak. He's proven to be a mega-lazy, stupid, boorish, lecherous, belligerent clod. Any employee who pulled 2% of the crap he has with their employer would have been canned in a heartbeat. He's dishonest and a liar. Any wealth he's accrued is only because the Harrisons were lenient enough not to can his sorry backside. I couldn't even see Target or Burger King hiring this self-absorbed fool. He's popular, yes, but a lot of "bad" people over time have also been popular. Popularity does not equal class. To be fair, I couldn't see myself being friends or even a co-worker of any of the four (maybe the Old Man, but doubtful).

reply

You can't have class if you're an owner of a pawn shop. It takes a certain kind of person to own and operate a business like that.

Chumlee is NOT a pawn shop employee, he is an ACTOR. Like all actors, he may or may not have similarities to the persona of the character he plays. Given that he's been on the show for 15+ years, all the while increasing his roll, I'd guess he has little in common with the stupidity and sloth of his character (I won't speculate on how "boorish, lecherous, belligerent" or "self-absorbed" he is because I don't know him). Testimonials from people at an autograph signing or publicity event who claim he REALLY is like that are simply incredulous, such meetings are as "real" as the "reality" show he stars on. Its like your own coworkers may be jerks/saints in the workplace, but just the opposite to their friends/family/acquaintances/strangers in their off time. "All the world is a stage" and we all have our own self-defined roles in the different aspects of our lives.

The show been on for six in half years not even 15 years. He started working at the pawn shop five years before the airing of the first episode in July of 2009.

You may want to note that the show has two "seasons" per year, they are actually in their 16th season (first show Last Saturday 02 April 2016) and have completed 15 seasons (28 shows per season, 420 total) - look it up. Being a former pawn shop employee is not being one now, otherwise I could consider myself a paperboy, work-study or many other occupations.

You said in your previous post the show been on for fifteen plus years which isn't true. That what got me little confused in the first place.

reply

You're right, my mistake. I was thinking seasons and typed years.

reply

No worries, its cool.

Time for a rap video?

you said "years" not "seasons".

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog

Of course that jackhole would be fired for the way he behaves if it wasn't for the fact that it's entirely scripted. You do understand everything about this show is fake right? You have to know that. Also he doesn't even work there anymore, in fact none of them do. There is an entire set that looks like the shop and that is where these "actors" perform the scripts they are given. Sure, they once probably did work 9-5 or whatever hour shifts but c'mon there is no way you would ever find any of these odious clowns working the counter now.

Chumlee is my hero. A fat, disgusting doofus that can make hundreds of thousands of dollars for being himself deserves to be honored and venerated. Guns, drugs and hookers: what a life!
