laughably bad and terrible on so many levels

First off the movie is a lie, based on a book that is (mostly) all lies. Ignoring alot of aspects that we could consider 'truths' and taking aspects from the book and re-arranging them to suit it's narrative - this is irresponsible filmmaking at it's best. Yes movies and facts/documentaries are two different things but when a film presents itself as 'the true story' it should be just that - true. It reminded me of Public Enemies (a movie that was also factually all over the map).

The movie starts off with Richard and Deborah(?) getting together and then jumps to them having a kid - forgetting about all the abuse that led to 3 miscarriages. Like how he punched her in the stommach and the 3rd one she was found with the (dead) baby's foot sticking out of her (if that is true - it's still repugnant). "Congratulations - you're a father..." wtf was that *beep* Just the start of complete *beep* that goes on for 1:45 mins... Ray Liotta's character shouldn't even BE in this movie for christ's sakes, as he didn't even work with Kuklinksi.

The movie is just plain silly at times. For example the scene where he hits the guy's car then chases him relentlessly. First off this stone cold pyscho got mad at OTHER people who drove poorly. He was arrested for punching out bad drivers' windshields and ripping the door off a lady's car! lol And for a guy who loves his family so much to recklessly careen through traffic like a lunatic - putting everyone's life at risk - goes against the *beep* 'just a family man' angle this movie plays up.

Even just taking the movie at face value fails because of the inappropriate casting choices. Wow was this movie miscast. Everyone stands out like a sore thumb and no one is believable. James Franco, David Schwimmer, Steven Dorff...everyone is terrible. I like Chris Evans but jesus did he look ridiculous (I doubt marvel was happy about Captain America playing such a piece of *beep* too lol). Shannon is good as is Ryder but it's such b.s. that I couldn't even appreciate the characters as they were in THIS 'fairy tale' nonsense.

I was anxiously awaiting this film since I heard about and then wondered what happened to it - now I know. It was buried for a good reason.

seriously now.. What movie of any historic thing is completely accurate?
Not gonna argue about your casting preference, that is just your opinion which I respect.

well not many haha, but 'based on a true story' and 'THE TRUE STORY OF RICHARD KUKLINSKI" are two different things lol ;)

I would also like to add that this movie COULD have been very good, maybe even a classic had it not glossed over everything and it SHOULD have been one of those movies that clocks in at 2:30 mins NOT 1:45. The whole part at the end with Dom coming out of nowhere and then him getting busted was ridiculous. This is the type of movie that should have had det Kane getting onto Richard's trail through the burglaries and not (AGAIN) distorted half-assed facts blended up into some ending that came completely out of nowhere... This movie failed on the main aspect of this man - that he was a insanely violent nutbar. Honestly Shannnon was 'good' but there ZERO menace to his character. He wasn't scary at all - and the underlying explosive violence of this man was nowhere to be seen. Totally wasted opportunity.

Cry a little bit more :) This is just a movie, not documentary.

Not silly at all.

Pretty good movie.

Having watched the documentary, and now the film, I have to say the film was a disappointment. Kuklinski was much scarier in the documentary as he was talking about his life. The film was all over the place and I agree the stupid changes they made made no sense at all. They should have stuck with the real facts - they are harrowing enough.

The OP claims that Gigli is a great film. That's all we need to know about him lol.

You, sir...are a *beep* moron. Good day!

Nowhere do I recall it presenting itself as 'the true story'; the credits say 'based on a true story' - and there was a real guy nicknamed The Iceman who killed people... so that takes care of that.

If a movie has an interesting subject and is entertaining, then I couldn't care less whether the events depicted are 'true'; if I want the real story I read newspapers or factual sources, which movies rarely claim to be... Indeed, this one does not. The real story was interesting, but the fictional movie was entertaining, so it's a win-win.

If you want 'the truth', then Hollywood is the wrong place for you to be looking for it.
